Today we have a real "good guy with a gun" on the show to share his self-defense use of a firearm encounter from earlier this month. Jim Krout woke up to the sound of something downstairs and when he went to investigate he found that a stranger had made himself at home while they were sleeping. Upon further investigation, Jim realizes that the man is still in the house and has to use his firearm and his training to keep the man there until police arrive. This is his story. Enjoy!

In "Condition Black" you'll only do what you have been trained to do - no more, no less. That is why it's a good idea to go over the recommended SOP of a self-defense shooting. Talk it through with your spouse, your kids, and your friends. Write out quick reference cheat sheets for them. Do whatever you can to help you and your family from going into condition black.

Suppose a zombie apocalypse really happened. Do you think you'd survive? A team of students in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leicester took this question seriously and plugged zombie infection parameters into an epidemiological model that is used to model the spread of real-life infectious disease throughout a population.
