In fact, its kinda of a small deal.🛀 If you haven't already heard, (insert🤹‍♀️ whisper here) small is the new big. 🗣I am so grateful to all the votes 🎯of confidence and support in my campaign🪆 to be elected to the Association of Vancouver 🦐Island Coastal Communities executive,🍻 as director at large. Yet it was this important 🍾dialogue that was top most in my mind.🫐 Once it was finished i was flying on a high.🍒 After we recorded this discussion in the🦀 Sidney room, to an audience of almost 40 🐢people, i knew i did good. 🐇Feeling like the belle of the ball. 👌 if you wanna know what i mean, give it a 🎶 listen, because even thought i live in a small village, there's always something new to learn when you lean in and strain to hear🦮 from the quietest voices. you will👂 thank me later, and I will be doing my level best at amplifing the issues🦝 faced by small🦇 communities in our region.🐋

The pulling back of a curtain to reveal my process. I ✍ write and rewrite, changing the order of things from the first version to the final draft. ✨ After many false starts and multiple takes, some are better than others. It's a balance between getting the audio and pacing to flow with the vanity of evaluating how the visuals look. Over the course of this learning experience in elected service I have been using production skills from my previous experience in 🎥 film. When I was younger I enjoyed participating in rotary speech contest 👏. The work I am doing nowadays is collaborative, because 👂 listening requires trust & team-building. My inner critic can find fault with my performance 😒 and yet the curiosity I have to learn by doing, shines through. Its a blending of direct and indirect skillsets. My goals🎯 are to be vulnerable and bold. I hope to encourage recruitment of new people, with varied experiences, to get interested and participate🥈 in our shared democracy.

Hopefully this recording will be an 👁 eye opening experience to the realities of warming🌋 and global consequences of federal and provincial inaction. What started as a grant driven study focused on aging in place, later became a deeper dive study into transportation issues that residents of our village have. A couple of years and a global pandemic later, we have been trudging along up hill, zooming into making village, neighborhood and household level plans to expect and prepare for the unexpected or unevitable.
