Story Transcript:

Ro: Pe stradutele înguste și colorate ale pieței aglomerate, Alexandru, Gabriela și Ion se pierduseră unul de altul în mulțimea de oameni și tarabe.
En: On the narrow and colorful streets of the crowded market, Alexandru, Gabriela, and Ion had lost each other in the sea of people and stalls.

Ro: Vânzătorii strigau ofertele zilei, iar mirosurile puternice de fructe proaspete și legume abia culese umpleau aerul.
En: Vendors were shouting their daily offers, and the strong smells of fresh fruits and newly harvested vegetables filled the air.

Ro: Gabriela, în căutarea unor condimente exotice, dispăruse printre mesele pline cu mirodenii.
En: Gabriela, searching for exotic spices, had disappeared among the tables full of spices.

Ro: Ion își făcuse loc printre tarabele de brânzeturi, lăsându-se îmbiat de arome și degustând bucătele mici oferite de vânzători amabili.
En: Ion had made his way through the cheese stalls, enticed by the aromas and tasting the small pieces offered by friendly vendors.

Ro: Alexandru, om simplu și de obicei atent, se simțea copleșit de forfota din jur.
En: Alexandru, a simple and usually attentive man, felt overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle around him.

Ro: Voia doar să regăsească mâna caldă a soției sale.
En: He just wanted to find his wife's warm hand again.

Ro: Când în sfârșit se hotărâse să o caute, era atât de tulburat, încât, în loc să-și deschidă ochii, se îndreptă spre ceva ce părea a fi rochia colorată a Gabrielei.
En: When he finally decided to look for her, he was so flustered that instead of opening his eyes, he headed towards something that appeared to be Gabriela's colorful dress.

Ro: Era de fapt o pepene verde mare, rotund, uitat pe o ladă la colțul unei tarabe.
En: It was actually a large, round watermelon, forgotten on a crate at the corner of a stall.

Ro: Fără să-și dea seama de greșeală, Alexandru interpelează pepenele crezând că vorbește cu Gabriela: "Draga mea, ce-ai zice să mergem să luăm o înghețată după ce terminăm aici?".
En: Unaware of his mistake, Alexandru addressed the watermelon, thinking he was talking to Gabriela: "My dear, how about we go get ice cream after we're done here?"

Ro: Nimeni nu-i răspunde, iar Alexandru, uimit de liniștea neobișnuită a soției sale, bătea ușor pepenele cu degetul, spunând: "Gabriela, ești bine?".
En: No one answered, and Alexandru, amazed by his wife's unusual silence, lightly tapped the watermelon with his finger, saying, "Gabriela, are you okay?"

Ro: Râsete începură să se audă din jur, iar un copil curios îl trase blând de mânecă și îi spuse: "Domnule, vorbiți cu un pepene!".
En: Laughter began to be heard around him, and a curious child gently tugged at his sleeve and said, "Sir, you're talking to a watermelon!"

Ro: Alexandru se uită mai atent și, realizând ce făcuse, începu să râdă și el de situație, roșind puțin.
En: Alexandru looked more closely and, realizing what he had done, began to laugh and blush a little.

Ro: Ion, atras de agitație și încercând să nu râdă prea tare, se apropiase și el.
En: Ion, drawn by the commotion and trying not to laugh too loudly, also approached.

Ro: Ei, Alexandru, văd că ai întâlnit un nou prieten!", glumi el.
En: Well, Alexandru, looks like you've made a new friend!" he joked.

Ro: Alexandru se uită în jur după soția sa și, în sfârșit, ochii îi căzură pe figura zâmbitoare a Gabrielei care se apropia.
En: Alexandru looked around for his wife, and finally, his eyes fell on Gabriela's smiling face as she approached.

Ro: Am auzit că ai făcut cunoștință cu un pepene. L-ai măcar invitat la cină?", zise ea amuzată.
En: I heard you've made friends with a watermelon. Have you at least invited it to dinner?" she said, amused.

Ro: La sfârșit, toți trei se hotărâră să ducă pepenele acasă ca suvenir al acestei zile memorabile.
En: In the end, all three decided to take the watermelon home as a souvenir of this memorable day.

Ro: Acasă, înconjurat de prieteni și amintiri plăcute, Alexandru tăie pepenele, iar toți gustară împreună, râzând și povestind despre aventura neașteptată a zilei.
En: At home, surrounded by friends and pleasant memories, Alexandru cut the watermelon, and they all tasted it together, laughing and recounting the unexpected adventure of the day.

Ro: Cele întâmplate rămăseseră între ei ca o pildă amuzantă despre importanța de a fi atent la detalii... și la soție.
