The major theme of Matthew is the Kingdom, the realm where King Jesus reigns. In this last converation, Larry discusses the mindsets (and "heartsets") that will either help or hinder our life in the kingdom.

Let's shift our perspective on Legacies from “How well will I be remembered?" to a radically more important question.

Who has God already placed in our life that is hungry, thirsty, a stranger, needing clothing, sick, or in prison needing a visitor?

Who is in front of us?

What can we do that would require effort but not a lot of administration / coordination?

Left unchecked, creating/ maintaining the “mission” soon becomes the mission. When Jesus calls us to serve, it does not need to be that complicated. It’s not a big event with a large volunteer base with several leads and a it’s own website.

Who needs a cup of water or a bed to sleep in?

RE hypocrisy, if there are truly unconverted areas of our life, we are likely not aware of them. If it is blindspot that we are conscious of, is it a really a blindspot?

Nay, we need God to identify our hypocrisies.

What are some ways we can hear from the Holy Spirit as we reflect upon our unknown blind spots?

Let's listen together.

“What does it mean to be married to Christ? That He has made us the recipients of his affection and, in turn, we are to make him the ultimate object of ours.” – Paul David Tripp

Christ has made us the full receiver of His affection and in so, is making bids for your affection (Matt. 22:23-40).

Let's listen and then say our vows.

Not everyone who says yes to Jesus is a follower of his. Though we love to point out examples throughout history, humility requires some healthy self-evaluation, coupled with merciful prayer.

May we ask, "Lord, what steps can WE take for us to truly...

1) Run the race well

2) Finish Well

The title alone says much.

RE this conversation,

... some will resist,

... some may resonate.

and, it will likely not cover anyone's expectations as this is a socially volatile conversation. Our hope is that we come in surrendered and allow God to continue this conversation with us beyond Sunday as we seek to love God and others in Christ.

The mystery of tragedy is that our all-loving, all-powerful crucified Savior weeps with us as we mourn.

When others mourn, here is a good reminder of what to do and... what not to do or say.
