What is our calling as it pertains to the words that we call out? Our society believes God is mute. Nothing is further from the truth.

When you allow God to call you into greater purpose, you begin to unlock the opportunity for people to hear God's voice through the static of the culture.

We live in a world filled with evil. Yes, individuals and people groups make destructive decisions. Yet, all those choices are influenced by the enemy of God (commonly known as the devil).

In the beginning of Jesus ministry, he confronts the enemy head on. The true Kingdom has come to take back what is truly God's. As Jesus does, Jesus wins.

In the midst of this initial battle, we witness a common ploy of the enemy: Undermining the truth of God and subsequently our faith.

What are lies we will almost certainly face?

As we think of resolutions, how do we step into real change? And if God is the one who makes real changes, what is our part? Let's recall our baptism in order to remember how authentic change takes place.

Every child has a name. Every name has a story.

How can we welcome these little ones and change their story?

The foreigner or alien is near and dear to God's heart. In many ways, this people group is a reminder of God coming in Christ as a foreigner (John 1:11) AND that we ourselves were on the outside of faith seeking refuge (Eph. 2:13).

As stated in Leviticus states, "When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God." Leviticus 19:33-34

If this is God's priority, how does it become our own?

God is the author life and therefore music (Zeph. 3:17). It makes one curious, what makes a good song?

Before Billie Eilish, before Beyonce, before Bach, Before EuroPunk, Motown, there was a song when Christ was born and split history from BC from AD. In the preamble the to the open air concert in Bethlehem (Luke 2:14), there was an angel who tells us just what makes a good song (Luke 2:10).

In a world that that highlights so many forms of discrimination, one that is often overlooked is ageism, our stereotyping and prejudice against older people or seniors.

If marriage is the focus of singleness and the kids are the focus of marriage, we can dismiss the beauty and understanding of our elders who have lived more years than us.

As we continue our series, we will discuss the gift of welcoming the widow in our lives. Furthermore, we will discuss what our homes are primarily designed to be.

In the Old Testament, "the quartet of the vulnerable" is the poor, widow, orphan and immigrant. These represent four people groups that are consistently elevated in the Bible. Indeed, their economic distress and social exclusion grieves the heart of God. But it’s not just that. These lives are a gift to us. The priority God gives them demonstrates that those who are on the margins are designed to be at the very center of the church.

Advent is latin for “coming or arrival.” What's amazing is how this quartet are some of the first (and significant) welcoming witnesses of the baby Christ, giving us a potent reminder that God who came as an outsider was welcomed by outsiders: an impoverished unmarried couple who like others in their town are taxed into servitude, a widow who prayers continuously, a fallen country that welcomes refugees, etc.

Today, we welcome and learn from the poor among us.

Why is church necessary when we have all these other options? Podcasts, YouTube, Bible studies, my Christian friends, etc.

Church is a people not a place. Yet, it is a people in a dedicated space. What is this space dedicated for?
