We all make lots of choices every day. The average adult makes about 35,000 somewhat conscious decisions each day. That is roughly one decision every 2.5 seconds. Just that thought is overwhelming, for I made at least six decisions while trying to write this sentence. Now, each choice we make carries inevitable consequences with it that can be both negative and positive.

Paul said, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, [the choices we make and actions or inactions that follow] that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” (Galatians. 6:7–8) Our decisions are seeds thrown into the wind, and we will reap what we have sown.

The greatest decision we all must make, however, is asked by Joshua, “Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:14–15)

Will we fear God or men? Will we serve God or men? Who is the boss of you? The choice is yours.

The message of the Gospel never changes. It must never be altered or diluted. God's gift of salvation for the undeserving sinner is His marvelous grace. God's gift to the world through Jesus's willing sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary is still freely given to whosoever will come. (John 3:16) This is the message of the Church in the Book of Acts and the church's message today! Jesus first, Jesus only, Jesus always.

Salvation is available to all who willingly receive Jesus as Lord. But to do that, we need to repent. This means to change our minds and, in turn, our actions. Why a change of mind? The writer of the Proverbs declares, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7a). Because of this, for most, the first thing they need to do is change their mind about Jesus. They would acknowledge that He is Lord, God incarnate, and died for all our sins, and He is the only way to heaven. (John 14:6)

This will naturally lead to a change in their actions and loyalties. They are moving their allegiance from the kingdom of the world to a new heavenly citizenship in following Jesus. In other words, be converted. Why would we seek this hope and loyalty to Jesus? So that our sin may be washed away, or blotted out, through the blood of Jesus. A refreshing peace comes into our new lives in Christ when that happens. Have you experienced the peace of Jesus? Have you repented and been converted?

Many in the church today think more money will fix all their problems. Unfortunately, the opposite is true. More money only brings more hurt and emptiness.

Remember Jesus says, “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. (Matthew 6:24)

All the silver and gold in the world cannot heal one broken heart or save one lost soul. Only the hope found in Jesus Christ can make us truly whole. Are you lost? Come to Jesus. Are you broken? Come to Jesus, for He is waiting for you with open arms.
