Holding Fast in Affliction, Jesus is Coming

In many ways, this Psalm assures us that what we know of God in our heads and believe on in our hearts always shows itself in what we do with our hands.

Jesus is the answer to the Psalmist’s prayer. We draw closer to God in the person and work of Jesus and we do this as a community in the spirit of unity.

Apart from God, our efforts are useless.

We are designed for worship.  This Psalm directs us to the only one worthy of worship - YHWH.  He alone deserves our worship.  All of creation will one day worship Him alone.

The people of God find rest in his presence.

The indescribable glory of God is on display through creation.

The Psalmist vividly describes feelings of despair and dejection as his circumstances prohibit him from worshiping at the tabernacle.  However, even in the depths of despair, the psalmist preaches to his soul what he knows to be true about his Savior and his God.
