"And what I say to you I say to all: Keep awake."

Jesus does not simply invite us to believe blindly that He will come again, and that therefore we can remain faithful and without fear when the world spins out of control.  He asks us to believe on His signs (creation, physics, the miracle of resurrection, and the power of His foresight--His prophecies).  Will you trust these things?

Many of us live into the all-too-common reality that our circumstances dictate our character.

False prophets and false messiahs prey on our panic, on our anxiety, on our fear.  Jesus' response to all this is trust me and stay faithful.

Shall we agree not to build our community on the exploitation of the desperate?

However we feel about God or our neighbors is secondary to the call of God to be loyal to Him and to them.

Who we are is hidden in Christ in God.  Who we are cannot be tied to what is temporary and fleeting.  This flesh, these genes, these traditions, these contexts are destined to perish.  Those things will not persist.
