Maddy Ogg with a nice winter walleye!
An article on Fishing Tackle Retailer recently came out titled, "Women Are the Future of Fishing, but Retailers Are Missing Out" and it's been making quite the splash on social media. One of the poignant statements made in the article said:
"Recent industry research from the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF) shows that 45 percent of all new anglers are women. We’re not talking ICAST booth babes with a snapper on Instagram—we’re talking serious anglers who can head to your local fruit jar tournament and smoke the field."
On this week's episode of The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast, we feature one such up-and-coming female angler. Meet Maddy Ogg. In her young age and relatively short time in the world of fishing, Maddy already has some major accomplishments under her belt. These include being named Women Anglers of Minnesota Angler of the Year and setting the Minnesota State Record for a catch-and-release pike.
We've no doubt this is just the beginning for Maddy! If she keeps up the level of passion and dedication to the sport she's demonstrated, she's going to go far, not just as a female angler but in the world of fishing as a whole.
Listen in and see for yourself. You can hear it in her voice. So catch the fever and don't be afraid to follow your passion too!
