The 1st Minnesota was the only Minnesota regiment here at Gettysburg. Its strength varies between 260 and 280 men. They took aroun 80% casualties after facing four times their number. But those casualties and the action taken which sustained them, stopped the advance of Wilcox's Confederate Brigade.
