This is a clever move, as Brit Reid of the Daily Sentinel can’t be seen to be on the side of the bookies yet he can’t be seen to be for the bill. If the state allows gambling on horses how can they stop it on other things?

Dan Holiday will do anything or go anywhere for an adventure, so his ad says. Of course, Dan Holiday calls and sets up a meeting with Ms Williams at a French restaurant. They meet. Dan finds out Carla has been blackmailed for five years but tonight is supposed to be the last payment and she wants Dan to go with her.

Helen Vaughn is an ugly woman. Years ago she and her sister visited a hypnotist, Chadwin the Great. Now Chadwin is an old man and Helen has tracked him down and she wants to pay Chadwin $10,000 to exchange the souls of her and her sister Rose, who is beautiful.
