This past weekend, I took in a Staten Island Ferry Hawks baseball game. It's a great place to watch a game and also take in the magnificent views of New York Harbor and the Manhattan skyline. It is an attraction that more New Yorkers need to know about and take advantage of. It is a gem of a ballpark. As I left the ballpark, I thought about how much more is needed to strengthen Staten Island North Shore. Plans for the Big Whale were scrapped. The Empire outlet has been a bust. And there are far too many empty storefronts along Bay Street, where there is so much potential. The city recently launched a major plan to create a waterfront spend in part with Brooklyn Bridge Park. It will be a strong catalyst for new private investment. This creative new vision for Staten Island can't come soon enough. I'm Rob Walsh for the Business Spotlight on WCBS880 News.
