Trey Lance had something to say to his critics, and he did so with a soft touch.

How does he feel about the offseason conversation swirling around him, some of it negative, after his up-and-down rookie season? The San Francisco 49ers' 22-year-old quarterback smiled. And he launched into an answer that was pointed and polite.

"In the most respectful way possible — it doesn't change how I feel about you guys as people — but it's not my job to care what you guys say or anyone else on social media," Lance said. "For me, I care about what the guys in the locker room think and what my coaching staff thinks. And at the end of that, that's my job.

Down 3-0 after three innings, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks needed to pull off a home opener comeback.

They did just that. The RedHawks scored the game's final four runs, including a ninth-inning RBI single from Manny Boscan to walk-off Milwaukee, 4-3.

Fargo-Moorhead scored two runs in the eighth inning to tie it up before putting runners on the corners in the ninth with just one out. Boscan then put a fly ball into right field that landed for the game-winning hit.

"T.O.'s (NDSU head baseball coach, Tyler Oakes) has been preaching the whole season about being gritty and taking the adversity with us, and it's been working in our favor," said senior catcher Logan Williams.

This season, the odds were stacked against NDSU baseball.

Tyler Oakes began his first season as head coach for the Bison. The team lost eight seniors, five of which were position player starters, and 40 of 47 games were played on the road.

Chuck Roos had never heard of a marathon before 1980. Now, the 76-year-old runner, who has run in every Fargo Marathon since its inception, will run in memory of his son Kyle, who died in 2020 from COVID-19.

Quincy Patterson will have one more chance to play quarterback at the FBS level.

The former North Dakota State quarterback told ESPN on Wednesday night he is transferring to Temple. Patterson started seven games for the Bison, winning each of those games before Cam Miller took over in the third quarter of NDSU's game against Missouri State.

Patterson tallied six passing touchdowns, seven rushing scores, along with four interceptions.

Gannon Limke said he's always wanted to play college basketball at North Dakota State, so he did something about it. He called head coach Dave Richman.

"I reached out to coach Richman and told him it was my lifelong dream to play for the Bison. I felt like I had a chance to play there," Limke said. "He gave me the opportunity to be a walk-on and join the program."

Fargo Marathon week kicked off today with the Fargo Cyclothon.

Hundreds of people gathered outside the north side Buffalo Wild Wings for the 26.2 mile race. The course included a loop of Fargo North, Harwood and Moorhead.

Fargo native, Sean Tostenson, competed in his first ever bike race and beat out the rest of the competition crossing the finish line first.

42 players including: all 10 of Minnesota's draft picks, college free agents and select returnees, took to the field on Friday to participate in the beginning of the Minnesota Vikings rookie minicamp.

The day consisted of a hour and a half practice filled with position drills, walk-through installations and 7 on 7 passing drills.
