While the Minnesota State High School League state girls basketball tournaments begin this week, the boys are setting up their section finals.

In 8AA, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton got 34 points from Owen Leach to cruise to a 76-65 win over Thief River Falls. The Rebels will play Perham on Friday night, who beat Pelican Rapids 43-37 to advance.

It's been ten years since the Moorhead boys basketball team felt the joy of playing in a state tournament. Matt Ellingson, a senior guard on that 2012 Spud team, remembers it well.

The Minnesota Vikings and quarterback Kirk Cousins agreed to a one-year contract extension that covers the 2023 NFL season, Cousins' agent announced Sunday night.

It didn't come easy for the top seeds to open the Class A State Basketball Tournament in Bismarck on Thursday. After trailing in the second half, top seeded Davies from the east region hung on to defeat Bismarck Century 84-72 in overtime.

The Eagles move on to play West Fargo. Last year's state champions came out hot against Bismarck, who was the second seeded team from the west region, 87-64. Top seed Enderlin and third seed Kindred are set to play in the Region 1 boys basketball championship game on Thursday.

Enderlin is making its first region title appearance since 2015 and will be looking to make its first state appearance since 1996.

On the other hand, Kindred is one win away from returning to the state tournament, where it will look to defend it's state title.

South Dakota State is headed to the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, and completed a perfect season against conference opponents Tuesday night at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Senior forward Douglas Wilson scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help lift the Jackrabbits to a 75-69 victory against North Dakota State to win the Summit League tournament championship before 10,072 fans, earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. North Dakota State is headed to a familiar spot, the Summit League men's basketball tournament championship game.

Sam Griesel poured in 26 points to lead the No. 2-seeded Bison to a 92-72 victory against Oral Roberts on Monday, March 7, in the tournament semifinals at the Denny Sanford Premier Center before 10,418 fans.

On Sunday, Mar. 6, the North Dakota State women's basketball team fell in their Summit League tournament quarterfinal game against Kansas City 81-74, bringing to an end what head coach Jory Collins called a "tough year."

The University of North Dakota women also lost, falling 61-54 to Oral Roberts. UND carried the momentum of a mid-season surge into the tournament but couldn't overcome a 22-point performance from ORU standout Keni Jo Lippe.

For the third time since 2017, the Kindred girls basketball team works to earn the Class B State Championship. A strong first half helping the Vikings to the 72-29 win. Senior Abby Duchscherer led all players after scoring 22 points.

The top seeded Vikings move on to play Shiloh Christian in the semifinals, after the Skyhawks use a big second quarter to get past fourth seeded Linton/HMB, 48-34.

After a back-and-forth two periods, the Moorhead boys hockey team was able to score three goals in the third period and pull away from Elk River, 8-4, for the Section 8AA championship on Wednesday at Municipal Athletic Complex.
