Minnesota State Moorhead now has a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball tournament crown, and the sixth time proved to be the charm.

Jaden Stanley-Williams scored 15 points to help lift the Dragons to an 81-73 victory against No. 12-ranked Minnesota Duluth for the conference tournament title Tuesday at the Sanford Pentagon.

"That we're able to do this for the first time in school history, it means so much because this is a great program we have," said Dragons freshman guard Jacob Beeninga. "It's a great school, great support. This is a university-wide championship. This is amazing."

After falling in last year's region championship in overtime, the Kindred Vikings got revenge this weekend, advancing to the state tournament for the first time since 2019. The Vikings are the top seed in Class B and will face Beulah in the opening round on Thursday.

Red River moves on after a 6-0 win in the North Dakota Boys State Hockey Tournament. The Roughriders will meet Fargo South-Shanley in the quarterfinals, after the Bruins took down Mandan 4-1 in the opening round.

The top-seeded Spuds powered in five third-period goals and routed the Warriors 7-0 in the Section 8AA quarterfinals at the Moorhead Sports Center.

Davies girls hockey is in the middle of a remarkable three year run, with no signs of slowing down heading into the North Dakota state hockey tournament.

It took South-Shanley a couple chances, but it finally got a win over Davies it desperately wanted. The Bruins scored the first three goals of the EDC championship game to cruise to a region title, 3-1.

Moorhead already has an adapted bowling team and is heavily involved in Special Olympics. When adapted hockey was put on the table though, Heidi Fisher knew that this had to be brought to reality.
