Given that last week's episode was so emotional, things have also been busy so I haven't had the time to record part 2 but also I am trying to remember all the details that took place; this means there are a lot of emails to read and piece together.

How to ask questions when you're not sure what to say or how to say it

Spreadsheet: I received a really nice message from someone who used the spreadsheet the other week and I wanted to share it with you.

Swim Tips: I grew up as a competitive swimmer and still love swimming. I want to share my background, experience and tips. I do plan on recording specific swim episodes. I do apologize in advance to the Dad jokes.

May 22, 2023 Episode 12 - The reason I advocate
Content warning and trigger warning.
It deals with violence.
This won’t be an easy story to tell for me or for you to hear but it’s important to understand the state that all of us were in at the time and how little we knew at the time.
Physically we are all fine, emotionally I think my wife and I carry the toll of that night to this day.
In this episode I am going to tell you the story of why I became the advocate that I did. It centres around an episode that my wife and I call rage night. It refers to a single night but it takes place over a month.
The first half the episode establishes context, the middle section is a description of the night, and the final part is the aftermath. I didn't split this one up but if you need a break, take one, there is a lot to process.
Following episodes will deal with how we tried to get our family help, education, and things we learned.
This episode should not be taken as a replacement for any professional advice that you should seek from a psychologist, psychiatrist, or other medical professional – everyone’s situations are different.
As a family, we are happier now than we ever have been. It was a long road to get here.
We will keep learning and realizing that we, as parents, are a big part of the equation. I hope you can walk away realizing that you need to learn how your child communicates with you, it's unique, this is what we missed.
