  • 2. Down By The Sycamore Tree

Welcome back to the We Are the One Podcast! Today we're going to talk about one of my favorite stories in the Bible, the story of Zacchaeus found in Luke chapter 19. Because it's such a tremendous story that illustrates how Jesus really does leave the 99 in order to save just 1 lost sheep. And since that's the theme of this podcast, the story of Zacchaeus is a great place for us to start! It's a very short story, but there are a ton of take-aways!

  • 1. My Story: From Saved to Broken to Grace

For our first podcast, I'm joined by a special guest!  My wife, Stefani, interviews me as I tell my story and struggles with mental illness, depression, and the "church."  Stefani is a board certified psychiatrist and mental health expert, and she does a tremendous job showing how the church can contribute to mental health problems.  Because way too often, the church shows us judgment rather than grace.  And many times, the harmful messaging from church is very subtle and indirect.  Lost in many churches are every day people that struggle.  They struggle to fit in and measure up to such high standards.  But thankfully, we worship an amazing God of love and grace!  A God that tells us we're "good enough" because we belong to Him!  And as Matthew 18:12-14 shows us, our Savior will do anything to help us!  He'll leave the 99 to save the 1 lost sheep!  Our God will heal us and re-build us.  He takes all of the broken pieces and over time makes a beautiful masterpiece.
