 Adrienne and Nora are on location at Brilliant Gems in Boerne, Texas, where Amber, Crystal, and Emma pull back the foils on what REALLY happens behind the chair.

And apparently, we were not prepared!

They share all the moments when people be peopling all over themselves!  From wildly inappropriate confessions and stories that have lived rent-free in these stylists’ heads for decades—nothing is off limits. But underneath the absolute chaos is something surprisingly meaningful.

Hairstylists don’t just do hair. They become confidants. They celebrate weddings, graduations and first haircuts. They sit with people through cancer, loss, divorce and grief. They hear things clients may not tell anyone else—and then somehow have to clock out, go home and try and leave all of that energy behind.

It’s hilarious. It’s heartfelt. Basically…people be peopling!

Ah Bedtime...

It’s amazing what your mind can accomplish the moment your head hits the pillow.

All day long, you couldn’t remember why you walked into the kitchen. And now, suddenly at bedtime, your mind remembers an email you forgot to send, a conversation from six years ago, and three things you should probably do tomorrow.

If that sounds familiar, this meditation is for you.

This guided bedtime meditation is an opportunity to slow things down, turn down the volume on the mental chatter, and loosen your grip on the day. You don’t need to solve tomorrow’s problems tonight. You don’t need to replay today’s events one more time.

Instead, draw your attention back to your breath, your body, and this present moment as you prepare for rest.

We Didn’t Plan For This… is a new special series from the hosts of How Yoga Changed My Life about navigating life transitions, and unexpected change in real time.

After Adrienne's sudden loss of her husband, so many of you reached out with the same words: “I didn’t plan for this either.” A diagnosis. A body that changed. A marriage that shifted. A child who is struggling. A dream that fell apart.

This first episode sets the tone for the series. We’re not rehashing the details of what happened. We’re talking about where we are now — and how yoga, breath, and small daily practices can help us keep showing up through grief, parenting, identity shifts, and hard seasons.

This is not trauma-informed certification language. It’s not five steps to resilience. It’s honest conversation about strength, energy, work, friendship, our bodies, and ordinary days that don’t look the way we expected.

We’re not trying to fix anything.

We’re living it — as it’s happening.

Welcome to the very first episode of We Didn’t Plan for This in its new home.

This podcast was never part of the plan. Then again, neither were most of the things that brought Adrienne here.

After the unexpected death of her husband, Brian, Adrienne found herself navigating a life she never imagined — grief, widowhood, parenting, probate, money, friendship, starting over, and the realization that sometimes life couldn’t care less about the plans you’ve made.
