  • Mignon Stetman & Gabrielle Sitomer • Working Western: Family, Fun & Finding Your Community

What makes Working Western so much fun with an Arabian horse?

For Mignon Stetman and Gabrielle Sitomer, the answer involves great horses, challenging classes, personal growth, family, friendships and a community that encourages people to keep learning.

In this episode of the We LOVE Arabian Horses Podcast, Mignon and Gabrielle join host Paul Kostial to share how each found her way into Working Western and why neither looked back.

Mignon talks about her extraordinary partnership with Legacy Black Sabbath++++//, including what this talented and sensitive horse has taught her about patience and becoming a better rider. She also shares the story behind one of her proudest national accomplishments, an unexpected championship aboard M Gettin' Er Done, better known as Stormy.

Gabrielle discusses receiving the APAHA Working Western Amateur Award, the remarkable group of horses she and her children enjoy together, and why one particular national championship aboard Strawberry Wine, known as Crush, became such a memorable family accomplishment.

The conversation also explores ranch riding, ranch trail, western trail and what makes Arabian and Half-Arabian horses such engaging partners for these disciplines.

Mignon and Gabrielle share their experiences with ATARHA, the Arabian Trail and Ranch Horse Association, and discuss the camaraderie and accessibility they see within the Working Western community, from nationally competitive riders to owners enjoying their horses closer to home.

Most importantly, they have some encouraging advice for anyone watching from the sidelines wondering whether Working Western might be for them:

Start somewhere. Learn. Don't be intimidated. And enjoy the journey with your horse. 🐴🤠

  • Rushlow's Arabians: Building a Front Door for Others to Discover & Enjoy Arabian Horses

What does it take to build a lesson program that brings new people into Arabian horses and keeps them coming back?

In this episode of the We LOVE Arabian Horses Podcast, host Lindsay Rinehart visits with Marggie Rushlow-Roberts and Chad Roberts of Rushlow’s Arabians, a multi-generational family operation with one of the Arabian horse community’s most successful lesson and training programs.

They share how the farm grew from the vision and hard work of Marggie’s parents, how lessons became an important part of the family business, and why their approach has always been about welcoming people without pressure.

From beginner lessons and day camps to horse ownership and National-level competition, Rushlow’s has created opportunities for people to participate at whatever level works for them. In fact, they estimate only about 5% of lesson students eventually purchase a horse, and they’re perfectly comfortable with that. The goal is for people to enjoy horses, learn and feel part of the community.

Marggie and Chad also talk about finding great lesson horses, building a dependable team, creating a culture of consistency, growing a program one step at a time, and the next generation of the Rushlow family.

It’s a practical conversation about family, accessibility, hard work and creating more ways for people to discover Arabian horses.

  • Tommy Garland • Taking the Arabian Horse to the People

What does it really take to grow the Arabian horse community?

For longtime horseman, trainer, clinician and educator Tommy Garland, it starts by taking the Arabian horse beyond the traditional show ring and putting the breed in front of people who may have never experienced one before.

In this conversation, Lindsay Rinehart of We LOVE Arabian Horses sits down with Tommy to talk about his decades of experience promoting, training and teaching with Arabian horses.

Tommy shares how his nationally televised CPR for the Horse & Rider program on RFD-TV helped introduce Arabian horses to a much broader audience, why education and hands-on experiences can change perceptions of the breed, and what he believes the Arabian horse industry must do differently to welcome newcomers.

They also discuss Tommy's work mentoring young professionals, the importance of making horses accessible to everyday owners, and a lesson from his father that shaped his entire approach to horsemanship.

And underneath it all is one remarkably simple philosophy: help people.

For Tommy, the greatest legacy isn't the national championship trophies. It's the people whose lives, confidence and relationships with their horses are better because someone took the time to help.

🎙️ Join Lindsay and Tommy for a candid conversation about horsemanship, education, opportunity and taking the Arabian horse to the people.
