Marijuana legalization is on the ballot in California (and other less important states) in the form of prop 64. Which one of us (rhymes with smack) wants it legalized? If it passes is it ok to partake of the hippie lettuce? In other words, if something is illegal is it immoral/sin and vice versa? Also, Jeff went on a church retreat and may be high on God, or is he just high on John Eldredge's masculine spirit? Zack worries that in an effort to be authentic, people may be stuck just talking about being authentic. And Scott repents for something he said on a previous episode!

Recorded on a brief road trip to Arizona! Andy Stanley (leader of perhaps America's largest church) has caused quite the kerfuffle in evangelical circles regarding biblical authority.  Different opinions abound. Plus Zack may be a narcissist about the podcast i.e. when a random guy at church says he'll pray for him, it's because he listens to the podcast right?!?!? And has Jeff accidentally started "church" at a public school? Will he be fired? Oh, and Scott fell asleep during the podcast.

  • 32. Science Mike McHargue (The Definitive Conversation)

Ever wonder what the Apostle Peter's last meal was? Could it include bacon? Jeff knows. Also the official tagline of the BBB may have be born and you may consider staying past the "credits". Oh...And then there's...

    (http://static1.squarespace.com/static/5005b235c4aa8b4d9760fd8b/54c275d2e4b03dfa2a28bf6e/54c275d6e4b03dfa2a28bf83/1422030299963/Mike+McHargue+Headshot+Glass.jpg?format=2500w)
Mr. Science Mike McHargue (of the podcasts The Liturgists & Ask Science Mike) joins us to talk about fast food coffee, approved scientists for his daughters to marry, and his new book "Finding God in the Waves: how I lost my faith and found it again through science".
This podcast is AT LEAST a means by which the listener will hear great friends in different states of faith converse with Science Mike McHargue, one of the most huggable storytellers of our time. EVEN IF this is all this podcast is, the aural consumer will hear the fascinating story of the spiritual transformation of said huggable storyteller filtered through the conversational stylings of the hosts of Bro's Bibles & Beer, a podcast that's arguably good for humankind.
Let's give Science Mike the old "BBB Bump"!  Buy "Finding God In The Waves (https://www.amazon.com/Finding-God-Waves-Through-Science/dp/1101906049/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474744454&sr=8-1&keywords=finding+god+in+the+waves)" Check out his podcast "Ask Science Mike (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/ask-science-mike/id956995247?mt=2)" & "The Liturgists (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-liturgists-podcast/id903433534?mt=2)" (Co-hosted by Michael Gungor) Get more info and live podcast/book tour dates at findinggodinthewaves.com (findinggodinthewaves.com) & mikemchargue.com (http://mikemchargue.com/)
Remember to rate & review us on iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/bros-bibles-beer/id1048486854?mt=2) We will read it on the show, probably in a ridiculous accent. Entrepreneurial. Missional. Athletical? All things that describe Jonathan Collins. But was he wearing too many hats? Tech start-ups, being on the cusp of the olympic team as a decathlete, being Zest's Most Adventurous Man. It's all good, until it isn't. Jonathan takes us on a journey through the highs & lows of life. And perhaps finding something that transcends the ups and downs. Also, Jeff went to church without knowing where his 11 year old son was. On purpose.
Resources for Jonathan: www.unitedstrong.co (http://www.unitedstrong.co) United Strong exists to strengthen kids and communities through fitness events.

  • 30. Depression Is My Superpower

Justin Blank is a preachers kid. Does he live up to the stereotype that goes along with that? Why growing up a fat kid (his words) makes him funny. And how has depression, of which he's struggled with since he was 12, become his superpower. Plus he has dating app advice for Scott and a remedy for Jeff's hairy palms. I guess a better question to ask is...What does Justin NOT have the answer to. This was a blast.
