In episode 238, we delve into the recent commencement speech delivered by Harrison Butker, the Kansas City Chiefs’ star kicker, at Benedictine College.
As a celebrated athlete and a devout Catholic, Butker’s speech has garnered significant attention and sparked a lively debate. Join us as we explore the various dimensions of his address, highlighting both the applause and the criticisms it has received.
Also, for some Christians, cussing is a line you shouldn't cross. We aren't those Christians. We've recently received negative feedback on some salty language used on our podcast. We react to a thoughtful Instagram post by @nakedpastor about why he sometimes cusses, why some of us like to mix some zesty language into our conversations, and how it might actually be a good thing. You WILL hear some adult language in this episode. And listener feedback!

We've been accused of being lukewarm Christians by multiple people who are way better Christians than us. We (or at least one of us) probably are by some metrics. But isn't everyone someone else's lukewarm Christian? Do you ever feel like you might be a lukewarm Christian? Do you care? In this video, we'll explore what it means to be lukewarm, and why it might matter less than you think. Also listener feedback. So get into it and let us know what you think!

Russell Brand recently got baptized along with several other high-profile individuals, Candace Owens, Kat Von D, and others. Is it a sign of revival? Could some of these actually be business decisions? Does it matter? Also, what can we learn from Kanye West's faith's dramatic rise and fall? We talk about this and more in episode 236 of @brosbiblesbeer

Pastor Mark Driscoll was recently kicked off stage by Pastor John Lindell when he started his speaking time off at the Stronger Men's Conference, hosted at Lindell's James River Church. Driscoll was upset that there was an acrobat/sword swallower, who turned out to be a former stripper as part of the festivities opening the conference. That's a sentence I never thought I'd put in a podcast description.
“The Jezebel spirit opened our event,” Driscoll said, after explaining he was hoarse because he had been up since 1 a.m. praying. “. . . Before the word of God was opened, there was a platform. It was a high place. On it was a pole, an Asherah. The same thing that’s used in a strip club for women, who have the Jezebel spirit to seduce men."
The two seemed to reconcile publically late in the conference, but since then accusations are flying about Mark allegedly undermining the leadership and sowing discord at James River Church.
Do men's conferences need all the spectacle? Motorcross, tanks, flamethrowers, sword swallowers, etc? Was Driscoll correct in publicly rebuking the conference? How should disagreements between church leaders or Christians in general be handled? Plus Andy is the victim of Jeff's Rapid Fire, Josh Howerton may have plagiarized his apology for a bad joke, & listener feedback. This is far more than a TMZ-style gossipy reaction episode. So dig in and let us know what you think!

Courtney Lancaster from the Heal/Create Podcast joins us and shares her powerful story, including her time as a worship leader at Bethel Church. It seems most either have negative or positive opinions about what Bethel Church is up to. Courtney is more nuanced about her time there. Learn about some of the spiritual baggage she brought into, and out of Bethel, how she learned to heal from trauma, how this has unlocked her ability to create, and how she wants to help others (maybe you?) heal so they can unlock their creative potential. Plus listener feedback, what we're consuming, & Courtney survives (endures?) a round of Jeff's Rapid Fire.
"Healing is so possible, and my hope is that everything that I offer reminds you of who you truly are, helps you heal what’s in the way, and returns you to your creative power, once and for all."
About Courtney from www.courtneylancaster.co: "I was so deeply identified as a victim that I couldn’t see a path forward. The only thing I knew how to do for a while was just wake up every morning. I had two small children, crippling anxiety and depression, and a broken heart full of dreams that I had no idea how to move towards.
It wasn’t always like this. I had been a worship leader and a performer, singing for thousands of people on big stages, and I had dreams of so much more. I have always wanted to sing, to pursue music and express myself through art for as long as I could remember. There were signs of stress, anxiety, and overwhelm as I navigated my adulthood and pursued them, but I didn’t know how to face them, so I ignored them. It wasn’t until a series of panic attacks upended my entire life that I realized that avoiding my pain wasn’t going to work.
9 years ago, I began the journey of healing. I was in therapy, coaching, and reading books every day trying to figure out how to clear the fog and calm the fear, but for awhile, I was just treading water. I was circling around and around my pain, but not resolving anything. I had heard that you needed to “feel it to heal it”, so I thought my ticket out was in feeling as much of my pain as possible. This only left me in deep disregulation, completely frozen and struggling with terrifying dissociation.
I know darkness really, really well.
I did find safety, slowly. I found the right support (something I will teach you how to do, if you need it), and I began to come out of the black hole I had found myself in, but I was still struggling with identity, and missing the vibrancy I had experienced years earlier and still hoped for." In episode 233, we dive into the intricate relationship between faith and politics, exploring how faith should inform our political views while examining the pitfalls that arise when politics dominate our faith.
We also address the challenges that emerge when political ideologies overshadow our faith principles. From divisiveness and polarization to the dangers of dogmatism and exclusion, we explore the potential pitfalls of allowing politics to dictate our religious convictions.
We also react to different clips of Charlie Kirk and Greg Locke who seem to be allowing their politics to dominate their faith. But you be the judge and let us know what you think! Also, we read and react to LISTENER FEEBACK!
Our aim is to foster understanding, promote dialogue, and inspire listeners to approach the intersection of faith and politics with wisdom and discernment.
We were joined by Brian Lockridge of Girl Dad USA. He's a very thoughtful man and we really benefitted from talking to him!

Join your favorite Bros as they dive into the potential differences between a biblical worldview and a Christlike worldview. While a biblical worldview often encompasses various interpretations and perspectives, a Christlike worldview may offer a more nuanced and practical approach rooted in the teachings and life of Jesus Christ. What are the differences and do they matter? We react to a couple of clips from Charlie Kirk and Alisa Childers that are supposed to define a biblical worldview but may make things less clear.
Whether you're a seasoned believer or someone exploring spirituality, this episode promises valuable insights and practical wisdom for navigating the intersection of faith, values, and the human experience. Plus some inappropriate humor, listener feedback and whatnot.
Let us know where you're at with all of this and join the conversation.

Are men under attack? In episode 231, we dive headfirst into one of the most contentious and polarizing topics of our time: the concept of a "war on men." Join us as we unpack arguments from our various perspectives, exploring whether society is truly pitted against men or if this notion is a misguided interpretation of complex social dynamics. We are not all on the same page on this one.
Is there a systematic effort to disadvantage men in modern society, or are these claims inflated and misinterpreted? Can discussions about gender equality coexist with acknowledging specific challenges faced by men? Tune in as we navigate through the complexities of gender discourse. Let us know what you think!

In this wildly thought-provoking episode, we delve into the divergent beliefs surrounding the anticipated return of Jesus Christ. While some interpretations envision a scenario of divine retribution, where Jesus returns to enact judgment and slaughter his enemies, others propose a more nuanced and hopeful perspective. We react to a video by a prominent pastor at the recent ShepCon '24 where he said, among other things that when Jesus returns, he will "shish kebab us". This and much more!
