  • WTC Special – Legion of Substitute Heroes

(Strong Language) When rising superstar artist Riley Rossmo (https://www.imagecomics.com/creators/view/riley-rossmo) mentioned to us he’d like to come on and talk books from the Nineteen Seventies, Brett & Mo decided to make it happen right away. So we banished Chris and good old Cub Reporter K and asked our buddy Scott Kowalchuk (http://www.onipress.com/creator/scottkowalchuk) to join us instead, and then just to make this recipe a little more awesome we brought in a real source of Bronze and Silver Age knowledge as Paul O’Connor AKA The Longbox Graveyard (http://longboxgraveyard.com/) made his long awaited return to the We Talk Comics airwaves!
What came out of it? Well… Once we recovered from Scott getting off topic on things like his love of the Halle Berry Catwoman movie(!), we got some incredible talk on what author Tom Wolfe called “The Me Decade”.
The guys get into books like Doom Patrol, The Nam, and the 70’s Marvel’s Horror Line. Characters like Luke Cage Power-Man and Conan, and lots of talk on creators such as Jack Kirby, Ross Andru, Jim Starlin, Jim Steranko, Richard Corben, Neal Adams and many many more in one of the best shows you will hear from us in 2014. And thanks as always to our friends at COMICOSITY, for all they do for us, it really is  the best site on the web for comic book news, previews and reviews.

  • WTC Show 99.NOW – And Then There Were Three

Brett, Chris and Keith sit down for a quick look at the biggest news thanks to COMICOSITY and to share this week’s WeViews. The top story is, of course, the return of a beloved benched character from DC. Also the guys react to the newly announced DC books for April.
A mega-sized WeViews has the guys looking at Black Dynamite, Curse, EGOs, Gateway, Miracleman, Night of the Living Deadpool and Skyman.
They finish up with a bit of comic chat and some laughs.
But first the Three have to solve the week’s greatest mystery – where is Mo, anyway?

  • WTC Show 98 – The Secret Santa Story Exchange 2013
Language Warning – It’s Christmas and We Talk Comics returns to the air with their holiday tradition… The Secret Santa Story Exchange! Here’s how it works, a participant is given who he gifts a story to read, then he supplies 3 options to our Santa (in this case Aaron Long of show sponsor COMICOSITY) who then decides which of the 3 stories submitted to him will be read. After that each participant comes on the air, talks about the story they read and what they think of it, and tries to guess who their Secret Santa that gifted them the story was… simple right? Well, when you’re trying to keep 6 guys on Skype focused on a topic, nothing remains simple as evidenced here, we got lots of off the rails hilarity!
    And who actually took part?
Your 4 regular WTC hosts Brett, Keith, Chris and Mo as well as our pal Comic Canuck Chris Doucher from http://www.comicbooktherapy.com/, the managing editor of http://www.comicosity.com/ Matt SantoriGriffith who was there in spirit if not in person, and the Mysterious Stranger known as Mr. Enema Bag Jones

  • We Talk Comics Special – Behind the Comics Pt 1: Publishing
Language warning: This episode features Joe Mulvey.

In part one of our behind the scenes look at the comic industry, Keith talks to Comix Tribe publisher Tyler James and Scam writer/artist Joe Mulvey.

In just over a year Comix Tribe went from mailing comics directly to retailers to have two successful Kickstarters, distribution through Diamond, and digital offerings through Comixology’s Submit program.

Tyler and Joe talk about the business of marketing independent comics including crowd-funding, advertising and connecting with retailers. What they tried that worked and what they learned from the rest.

Put your headphones on and settle in for an hour of comic talk from two guys who just spent a year in the trenches of small press.

  • WTC Show 97 – Hijacked by Scott Kowalchuk
(Language Warning) So.. this show is nuts. Brett, Keith, Chris and Mo decided this week we’d finally rank the best Batman Villains as we said we’d do so long ago, but then Scott Kowalchuk, artist of the monthly book Mysterious Strangers and the upcoming Down Set Fight both from publisher Oni Press said he’d like to guest on the show. “No problem” the boys thought, not only would they get Scott’s takes on the COMICOSITY  sponsored WeViews of 68 Hallowed Ground, Alex + Ada, Legends of Red Sonja, Protector’s Inc and Scott ‘s friend Riley Rossmo’s latest series Drumheller as well as Amazing X-Men #1 but Scott is also a huge Batman fan, so we could go wrong… right?

  • WTC Show 96 – Weird Comic Science
Gather around boys and girls as it’s time for another We Talk Comics! Keith and show sponsor COMICOSITY bring us The Weekly News With Cub Reporter K… featuring a little help from Copy Boy M. Also WeViews this week discusses Pretty Deadly, Velvet, Zombie War and the start to the latest Conan mini. The big show topic are those funny and unusual and yet completely illogical things we all just casually accept in comics and lots of laughs are had with that one. Plus a quick look at some of DC’s most iconic moments ever, and a couple of unintentional Chris moments that will have you laughing till you cry!
