  • WTC Special – The Ascension of Paul Allor
Without a doubt We Talk comics are positive that one of the next big breakout stars will be up coming scribe Paul Allor.
Starting in journalism and not becoming a regular comic book reader until his late twenties Paul forged a path into the industry by investing in himself. Anyone interested in getting into the business themselves should listen to his inspirational story of commitment and hard work.
Make sure to check out MonkeyBrain Books to read Paul’s terrific work Strange Nation, and also his writing on TMNT and G.I. Joe Siren’s Song.
Three great ways to subscribe to We Talk Comics now, through iTunes of course, and for those of you looking for an alternative to that the show is now available on Stitcher Radio or on the versatile TuneIn.

  • We Talk Comics Episode 112: Days of Movies Past
It’s a full show of fanboy film reviews as Keith and Chris look at the rumoured DC slate of films and what is up-coming in comic movies for the rest of 2014.
To kick off the show is the News with Cub Reporter K as sponsored by Comicosity.com. DC shows off some lenticular covers and Keith talks about his new favourite Big 2 comic.
The guys look at the list of rumoured WB super-hero films which shows a super-aggressive release schedule. Do the guys buy it? Is WB betting a billion and a half dollars over 2 years on a franchise that is off to an only modestly successful starter film?
The most recent comic movie gets the fanboy film review treatment as Keith and Chris take a look at X-Men: Days of Future Past. Which leads to a discussion of just how much transferred continuity is good for a movie?
To wrap up, Chris and Keith revisit a film they had a split opinion on when it came out 13 years ago and that divide has not changed. They may have long tails and ears for hats, but Josie and the Pussycats only win over one of our hosts.
Enjoy, and hopefully you will hear the episode before the DC film rumour is debunked.

  • WTC Special – F&%# Rules – The Frank J. Barbiere Interview
(Explicit Content) We Talk Comics had a chance to sit down with Frank J. Barbiere, writer of Five Ghosts (Image), Solar (Dynamite), White Suits and Blackout (Dark Horse), and the upcoming Black Market from BOOM! Besides going in depth on all of those series, we talked about the New Avengers Annual #1 that Frank has coming out from Marvel Comics, as well as his Superboy Future’s End issue from DC.
We also talked a bit about his writing style, as well as what goes in to being a full-time comic book writer. He shares some amusing stories about what some people have thought about his work, as well as what he thinks about that kind of thing.
Frank was extremely generous with his time, so take the chance and visit his website and check him out on twitter, where he is more than happy to chat with the fans a bit. Thanks also to our friends at COMICOSITY for their support and sponsorship…

  • We Talk Comics Show 111 – WTC Volume One: Episode 58
Even you long time listeners of We Talk Comics may be surprised to know that this isn’t the first incarnation of WTC, as back in the old days the boys used to mail out a monthly show via cassette and then by CD to subscribers.
Here we present one of those old episodes from 13 years prior as it’s WTC Volume One: Episode 58 from June of 2001.
This show features lots of great news items that time period and talk about comics during a rather scary slump and before Super Hero and Comic Book Movies became the in thing.
The big subject of the day is the decision Marvel was making to drop the Comics Code Authority stemming from the reaction the CCA had to X-Force #116 by Mike Allred and Peter Milligan, and what the expected fallout to Marvel comics and their competitors might be.
As well there’s in depth WeViews of books out the month of June 2001 such as Battle Pope #6 (or Battle Pope Mayhem #1 depending on how you look at it). Also Fray #1, Exiles #1, Sandman Presents: Dead Boy Detectives #1. As well the guys look at the graphic novel Justice League: Gods and Monsters, The Gunwitch: Outskirts of Doom, Tomb Raider #0, The Punisher V4 #1, and rounding out this monster list (pun intended) is Vampirella Nowheresville #1.
So listen in and share with the social media buttons. It’s a  fun and utterly fascinating look back on this very special episode from the vault. June 2001 was simply a very different time folks.
Thanks as always to our sponsor and the very best comic book site in the world, COMICOSITY.
And three great ways to subscribe to We Talk Comics now, through iTunes of course, and for those of you looking for an alternative to that the show is now available on Stitcher Radio or on the versatile TuneIn, so no reason not to enjoy!

  • WTC Special – Get Your Comic Published Panel
Comic Publishing, up and coming talents in the field Renegade Arts Entertainment presented a panel on that very topic at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo… We’d continue to tell about it ourselves but instead well use the fine write up hyping it from the head of creative at Renegade and panelist Alexander Finbow himself before you listen to the show available exclusively here on We Talk Podcasts (Unless any of the others want to put it up too)

    Get published
…or die trying. That’s the understated title of the panel we’re running at this year’s Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo.

Want to know how much it costs to get a 22 page comic from idea to the comic store? Want a better understanding of how Diamond deals work with small publishers? Trying to figure out the best chances of making a career in comics seem viable? Want to know how many copies of a story we sell? This is the panel for you.

Representing Renegade will be our Publisher/writer Alexander Finbow and artist Greg ‘GMB‘ Chomichuk. They’ll be joined by Kill Shakespeare scribe Conor McCreery, with Brett Monro from We Talk Comics Podcast acting as referee, I mean moderator.

They’ll be talking about how comics publishing works at the moment, drawing on their own experiences and happily divulging secret knowledge gleamed along the road to comic book success. What’s it like to have a creator owned book at IDW? Are you better going it alone, working with an indie publisher like Renegade, or working for the big publishers? The answers will be in Palomino Room E at 1pm on Sunday, April 27th.
