mornings and sees living as her best credential — a testament to her open views on the value life offers.

Tamara reflects on her own journey of moving from a hustling lifestyle in New York City to living in the quiet of San Miguel, Mexico, and how she’s noticed a quasi-resistance to technology juxtaposed by her desire for connection and captivating experiences. 

As a woman, she is inherently thankful that society is beginning to retire its stigma attached to what ‘success’ looks like and points to the great opportunities her generation has been gifted to speak openly about the actions of the past to help shape a better future.

Over recent years, we have collectively grown into an “anti” society. Positive outlooks and movements are becoming increasingly rare to come by, says Ivan Sawyer García, but why can’t we all be more pro-earth? Shouldn’t we be fighting for things, rather than against them?

In episode 26 of We Walk The Earth, Sergio sits down with Ivan Sawyer García; a cultural entrepreneur, indigenous rights activist, and media producer who has dedicated over a decade of his life to cultural exchange, sustainability, and preservation of indigenous knowledge across North and South America. 

Through photography, social media campaigns, events, and documentaries, Ivan has been sharing the stories of indigenous communities, inspiring others to immerse themselves into their culture to help protect and support our planet and life on Earth.

Ivan is also the founder and director of Voices of Amerikua, a collaborative media laboratory that empowers indigenous voices across North, Central, and South America to protect their culture, land, and rights. Describing himself as a restless person, always seeking ways to create space for change across communities and space, he hopes to help bridge the gap between the North and South Americas.

Trained in Industrial Design, and steeped in reverence for nature’s infinite, entangled beauty, Mendel opted to devote themself to a less material form of production — that of sounds and ideas. They apply a musical ethos to narrative composition, using soundscape as an indispensable layer of communication. Thematically, they seek to illuminate the assumptions that shape our ecosocial relationships, so that we may each discover other ways of being a part of the natural world.

Besides the podcast, they work as a mushroom guide — introducing the public to the diversity and ecology of local fungi. Their other loves include bikes, fruit, and dancing.
