Trump has made a slew of early cabinet picks and it is certainly a mixed bag. As we stated on episode 219, the election night win was only the beginning of our work to hold Trump to his pro-liberty promises and criticize him where he fails. Domestically, he's done a great job, appointing RFK, Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, and establishing D.O.G.E. with Elon and Vivek at the helm. In foreign policy, it is more of the disappointing same, selecting warhawk after warhawk to keep the war machine fed. We dish out credit and criticism where it is due.

To the shock of precisely no one that doesn't listen to mainstream media 8 hours a day, Trump prevailed over VP Kackles, and in "mandate" level fashion. Despite the fact that he made tremendous gains amongst every major demographic, won every single swing state, won red states by wider margins than he did in 2016, and won not only the Electoral College but also the popular vote by a wider margin than Hillary won it over him in 2016, the TDS hysterics seem hell-bent on learning as little from this result as they apparently learned from their loss in 2016. For them, it's still all about racism, fascism, and stupid Trump supporters that didn't realize how good of a thing they had going with the Bush, Cheney, Clinton, and Obama crime family endorsed Kamala. In this all-encompassing reaction episode, we discuss everything the leftists should have learned, why the Libertarian Party had such a poor showing, and what we will now do to hold Trump accountable to his liberty-oriented campaign promises. The work didn't end with the good election night results, it is just now beginning.

As libertarians we've been disaffected with both Democrats and Republicans for a long time. All the propaganda about "wasting votes on a third party" and "a vote for a Libertarian/third-party candidate is a vote for whoever won" (according to the side that lost) has never worked on us. We've voted our conscience in every election we've participated in and apologized to no one for that. But, this one was different. Only Trump has spoken to the concerns of libertarians (see his appearance at the Libertarian Party National Convention earlier this year) and has demonstrated through his actions thus far that he is seriously listening to libertarian voices around him. But, perhaps more fundamentally than that, he is not in open conflict with us like Kamala and all her supporters (see the Bush, Cheney, Clinton, and Obama crime families as well as the entire regime "security" apparatus) have made it clear that they are. For us, a vote for Trump this go-round is not only a vote for someone at least pretending to care about our issues for the first time ever, but a vote of self-defense against the most evil, vile collection of human beings ever assembled under one political banner. The choice was clear, obvious, and, as with all our Libertarian Party votes before, we apologize for nothing.

Pete Buttigieg gaslights libertarians on the basis of Trump's former advisors' hearsay and The Atlantic's Anne Applebaum makes the case on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that democracy is no longer democracy when an undesirable (according to her and her ilk) candidate wins. The 2016 campaign exposed us to the concept of "fake news," which the mainstream mouthpieces for the regime tried to pin exclusively to Trump, but we've since learned applies to nearly everything that comes out of their mouths and off their pens. In their ongoing efforts to cover the Kamala pig with lipstick, they engaged in substantial efforts to lie about the results of the Biden-Harris administration both in terms of it doing better than advertised in some areas (job creation) and not as bad as we all know they've been doing in other areas (crime). In recent weeks, the Bureau of Labor and the FBI have quietly amended their statistics to admit that the Biden-Harris administration has actually "added" over 800,000 less jobs than previously reported and violent crime is up 4.5% instead of down 2.1% since 2022. Just in case they try to memory-hole these little details, as they do with all others, we discuss it all in this episode for future reference.

Ever since Trump established himself as an "America First" candidate in 2016, the left, in its TDS-induced stupor, has taken the seemingly "America Last" position. If Trump wanted to do X aimed at benefitting Americans to the detriment of non-Americans, the left has been quick to label X as "fascist," "tyrannical," or "anti-democratic" in some form or fashion. So, it was rather surprising to see the outrage this past week over the news that Trump gave Covid tests to Russia during the height of the pandemic. This should have been joyous news to the America 27th (or whatever number they think isn't racist) crowd, or at the very least tolerated if the move "saved just one life." But alas, there is no consistency among morally stunted, mental marginals. Oh well... in other news, water is wet.

The story of the government's response to Hurricane Helene is a story of layered failure, incompetence, and evil in three parts. First, is generalized federal waste, fraud, and abuse of U.S. tax payers' dollars. While it has given billions in foreign aid since the start of 2024, it has given only $750 to those impacted by Helene. Second, is specific federal waste, fraud, and abuse. We learned this week that FEMA (the federal agency specifically tasked with responding to natural disasters) has spent billions settling illegal migrants in the U.S., leaving it cash strapped to help out actual American citizens who recently lost everything. Finally, is intentional evil. There are numerous and ongoing reports on the ground of private citizens seeking to help victims being delayed or completely prevented by FEMA and other government agencies from getting to those in need. The key takeaway here is that government is never coming to help, and may actually actively prevent you from getting help from others, so preparing yourself and building your local network is paramount to respond to these kinds of disasters in the future.

"Rational ignorance" is a real phenomenon, that predominates our politics. When the average voter does not even know or understand the basic facts underlying their policy preferences, they can't possibly ascertain whether that policy will actually be in their self-interest or not (it generally is not). This week we discuss a recent questionnaire demonstrating that voters don't know the first thing about corporate profits but will cheer the politician that promises to come down on corporations the hardest. And, "The Other 98%" graces us with another room temperature IQ meme this week, blaming "deregulation" on a recent listeria outbreak in a major deli meat processing facility. Ignorance is the foundation on which our reality of poor leadership, worse policies, and horrendous outcomes lie.

A second attempt was made on Trump's life this past week and for the miniscule amount of coverage the mainstream media gave it over a barely 48-hour news cycle, most of that time was dedicated to manufacturing the narrative that Trump is to blame for unhinged leftists and regular MSNBC consumers constantly trying to kill him. As if that wasn't bad enough, Hillary Clinton (of all people) took this opportune moment to shill her next memoir and complain to Rachel Maddow that the media isn't tough enough on Trump. It appears that the media's sole purpose (other than groveling to the powerful) is to warp reality into some funhouse version, 180 degrees from the truth.

Last week's Trump-Harris debate was a predictable nightmare for Trump. Too undisciplined to stay on message and avoid falling for Harris's personal insult traps, he missed a major opportunity to drive home the point that she embodies the regime that has screwed us all over for so long and that, if nothing else, he stands opposite her and the permanent state.
