Masoud Al Rawahi comes on the show to discuss the beginning stages of his start up PhazeRO. The conversation quickly develops into a discussion on how individuals (like you and me) can develop our skillset and learning framework to solve real problems.

Many times we float about picking up general knowledge that is generally unemployable and unusable as we search to grow ourselves. But, the important quality to develop within ourselves is grit and determination to keep learning, and they to figure our the pain and problems of the world--and solve them.

We also hit on principles to grow an economy, and how to help develop your employees.

  • Ahmaud Arbery - Part 2 with Branden Polk [E140]

In this second hour with Branden, we continue our discussion about Ahmaud Arbery--specifically in relationship to how we personally should reflect, respond, and act in light this event.

The biggest take away for me was Branden sharing how the voluntary embracing of pain and suffering opens the doors to a rich life.

We conclude this talk with Brandon by debriefing some of Branden's thoughts and his charge to us. Along with the fan favorite Weaver and Loom segment--where I share a quote or story that can spur us on to life better or help frame our worldview with more clarity.

Own the Future has taken on a NEW name--The Lucas Skrobot Show. Listen to learn WHY, and what to expect these new changes to bring.

    I answers questions like . . .

    • What caused you to change the name?
    • Is "Own the Future" totally going away?
    • What is happening to "Weaver and Loom"
    • Will you still be doing interviews?
    • How often will you be releasing episodes?
    • What is the new format of the show?
    • Is the heart of the content changing?

I share all this and MORE (like who is joining the team as a producer!)

We are excited for this new format of the show. It has taken 138 episodes or so to get here. What we did in the past served it's purpose--but now it is time to let the past be the past and to step into the new.

  • Tolerance is criticizing ideologies while loving the person | Weaver & Loom [E138]

I've been thinking a lot about "tolerance" lately--and what it truly means to be tolerance.

Tolerance is the freedom to criticize all ideas, ideologies, religions, system etc, WHILE loving those who hold ideals and values that are different than ours.

In Episode 135 Dahlia Rahaimy and I talk about power of disagreement and how you can maintain relationships and love for one another without compromising on your values.

This conversation got me thinking about "tolerance" and how we need the capacity to think critically about the implications of ideas while engaging in vulnerable relationship with those we hold disagreements with.

As I pondered tolerance I thought of my conversation with Brandon Polk back in E022 where he also gives a similar definition of tolerance, the importances to being free to dissect ideas, with the emphasis on not judging the individual (rather judging ideas) and engaging in relationship with people who are not like us.

Listen to this important mash up that if applied will open many doors for you to understand the world more clearly while freeing to think for yourself without falling into tribalism or identity politics or  ostracizing the "other".
