Today we are joined by María Baños, Creative Director, Visual Artist, and founder of the creative and curatorial studio Art Studies as well as the female movement Muses of Now. María’s multidisciplinary practice spans film, art publications, and scenography, always connected by a distinct sense of depth, intuition, and empowered feminine storytelling.
In this conversation, we explore the core themes that guide her work: her fascination with the mystical and the communal, her belief in art as a catalyst for change, and her dedication to transmitting the beauty of the intangible. We delve into Muses of Now as an exploration of contemporary female archetypes, and we learn how Shifting Landscapes, her recent project co-envisioned with artist Berta Blanca T. Ivanow and architect Andrea which features in The Lissome, came into being and evolved into a public expression of devotion, aesthetic presence, and subtle political commentary.
María shares her insights on what it takes to create collaborations that bridge deep meaning with deep aesthetic pleasure, the invitation she extends to those who experience her work, how the political interplays within her creative world, and her own practices and rituals for resilience.
