  • 111: How Can I Be A Good Receiver In This Season?
    Our culture can often make being a receiver feel like an uncomfortable experience, so we look at various parts in the Bible that talk about receiving gifts in a godly and thankful way, and what to do when we don't find ourselves naturally having that attitude!
    There are a few scriptures that Annie reads:
    1) Ecclesiastes 5:2
    Do not be quick with your mouth,
    do not be hasty in your heart
    to utter anything before God.
    God is in heaven
    and you are on earth,
    so let your words be few.
    2) Annie references Psalm 39:4-5 when talking about how short our days are:
    Show me, Lord, my life’s end
    and the number of my days;
    let me know how fleeting my life is.
    You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
    the span of my years is as nothing before you.
    Everyone is but a breath,
    even those who seem secure.
    3) Annie reads from Luke 7:36-50 when talking about Jesus interacting with the woman who poured perfume on his feet.

    Annie spends this episode talking about how we can use Pinterest or other wedding social media sites as tools to help us plan our weddings, without becoming stressed or overwhelmed!
    There are two verses mentioned in this episode:
    1) Annie quotes Proverbs 11:14 in her first point, "Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety."
    2) Annie says a phrase in her fourth guideline, that we should "run from sin". This comes from the scriptural idea that we should know when we are being tempted and run away from it! This idea is from 1 Corinthians 10:13: "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
    At the end, Annie also mentions her website and that she would love to hear your thoughts on topics or any questions you have. Please feel free to visit and provide some feedback anytime you desire!
