On today's episode, we dive into the world of paper and weddings with special guest Ashley Frye of Paper Love Club. I ask hard-hitting journalistic questions like: Why do we care about invitations and paper goods? What goes into designing and selecting invitations? And Does she have her own paper supplier like Jim Halpert? Along the way we derail and share advice for those planning their invitations, for other stationers, and a pro-tip for vendors to get the best images of their work back from events! Let's #WedTalk!

It's been a year since the pandemic hit (and since we've had an episode) - so we're catching up on weddings in the time of COVID-19. We dive into what weddings are looking like, what's in store for the industry, how we've navigated events, and how we're approaching them moving forward. I'm joined this episode by my friend and photographer, Ali Minetree, to help weigh in on these issues as well as some other PSAs to help plan your event!

Happy Friday! In today's episode, I chat with Hannah Lowery, owner and artist at Edges Wild Studio - a fine art, Houston-based floral design company for weddings and events. We do a quick touch base and let you know it's okay to not be okay right now and also that you do not have to do what others are doing at the moment right now. Then we dive into the topic discussing the definition of artistry, ways we see and relate to it, and then examples of how it gets implemented into wedding and event design. Hannah also encourages you to ask the question, "What if?" when it comes to the design and elements of your event! Let's #WedTalk!

I'm flying solo in today's episode as I explore the history of the bouquet. I dive into the ancient origins of where flower arrangements stemmed (ha) from and bring us all the way through how and why they became incorporated into weddings. Then I go into the supposed roots (ha, again) of how the bouquet toss tradition began and what it is today. I also offer alternative bouquet toss songs if you're going to do it, but also offer some suggestions to modify the tradition, make it yours, or encourage you to not do it at all! Let's #WedTalk!
Coming at you with some talk about networking in today's episode with guest, Renee Pool. She is partner and GM at House of Hough and most relevant to today's topic, she is the president if the Houston chapter of NACE. Listen in as we discuss the benefits of networking, best practice for finding the right group for you, and what to do when you go to your first meeting or event. Bonus, in this age of no handshaking, Renee and I come up with the perfect solution on how we should greet and meet each other in a business setting. Let's #WedTalk!

In today's episode (recorded during the holiday season), we chat with my good friend and flower ninja Maggie Bailey of Bramble and Bee. We talk about how she got her start in flowers and dive into the ins and outs of flowers around weddings, discussing costs associated with flowers, setting realistic expectations, and the power of referrals with a business. Maggie also touches on how the floral industry is making strides with sustainability, how to reasonably price yourself as a new vendor, and best practice for incorporating the Pantone color of the year into your event! Alex Marquardt of Alexandra Lee Photography joins this episode to discuss the benefits of co-working and how to do it while working from home (both if that's your norm always or now)! We had recently had a session where we saw how it benefitted both of us by having someone who didn't provide our same exact service give perspective on some of the things we were working on. It is especially important right now to make sure we're still benefitting from co-working virtually while we're all WFH-ing it up! She and I also touch on some other wedding points with a few laughs along the way!
In this episode, I bring on fellow wedding planner Abby Pendergrast and we discuss how the Coronavirus is affecting the wedding and events industry. We give tips to those who are planning their wedding and are having to reschedule as well as things to keep in mind if you are a vendor in the industry.
