  • Week 26 - scottux - motivational weeklybeats guy delayed by a week, but here's excerpts of a stream i did
Going to be streaming at https://www.twitch.tv/franztormer more often. Here's some excerpts from an hour long stream I did this week improvising an ambient piece.
If I can figure out a good place to upload it, I would like to share this full track somewhere. Not sure how much it aligns with my existing body of work so uploading it as Franz Tormer feels off somehow though.

  • Week 26 - monstret - icky
Ghostly speed trash this time around. I remember sitting and sourcing sound for a bit early in the week and then didn't get to making anything. Spooky ambient something?
Felt guilty about how little I did so I added a bit of piano on the Soundcloud version

Quick thing I made because I had no idea and no time this week. Should hopefully be able to make something bigger next week again :D

  • Week 26 - mzunguko - HEAR_ME
Happy half-way to everyone that made it this far, I didn't think I would, but here I am. A little uninspired this week, but through this together Saturday when I still hadn't even started. Grabbed some vocals, my guitar, and my VSTS, with an ableton drum rack.
Here's to the next 26 weeks.

  • Week 26 - Minnamari - Midsummer Flow
found some cozy chords on the ukulele and recorded a spontaneous song, letting whatever came flow through me, inspired by this last week's heatwave and spending a lot of time in the garden with the kids.
    › Lyrics‹ Lyrics
    there's a summer flow
last year it had me feeling low
but this year it's a chance to grow
    and know, after the low,
    It's time to go
    It's time to let go
    and grow
just like the flowers in the garden that you pick for me
    my dear little one
Or just like the bumblebees you tell me that you are
buzz buzz buzz, my little bee,
I know, that's what you are, at heart
'cause you're creating so much beauty
and nurturing the world and me
    by sharing it so freely
it's something for adults to learn
    just
    share your magic
    without being so tragic-ally
    critical
    the pollinators know, or maybe,
they just want to go, and let the flowers grow
and while they go about doing their thing
    with their little bumblebee wings
they are inspiring a little artist
inspiring the barefoot feet in the grass
    oh, why didn't I learn
why didn't I take my shoes off
    until after midsummer's already gone
I'm too much an adult, I want to keep the feet clean
but what does clean mean, if your feet are not free to feel the grass?
what does clean mean, in this context?
I should take some notes from you
you're the one who's teaching me
    and
    it's time to learn
just as the midsummer sun, or now later than the midsummer sun burns through the night
well, not here, but up north somewhere, the endless day shines
    bright
it shines here in you and
    yes, in me
    it's not too late
    to join the game
    to play
    with your
    barefeet in the grass
    let's raise a glass

  • Week 26 - ineff - Keirtaker (ft M.C. Starmtrooper)
It's becoming a UK tradition for PMs to resign during Weeklybeats, so it's become a Weekybeats tradition that―when one does―I helpfully chop their resignation speech into a demo tape for their future career.
Of course, repetitive tasks like this can get dull―so I tried an additional challenge this time: make the entire track from the audio of Sir Keir's public self-h̶a̶g̶i̶o̶g̶r̶a̶p̶h̶y̶ eulogy.  No other samples, No on-board synths.
So: absolutely everything in the track―not just the lyrics, beatboxing, crowds, horns, or the on-the-scene-for-some-reason distant soprano choir (what was that about?)―but also every bass, kick, "synth", and sound effect are mangled from the same speech.
