Another OP-XY song from the week.  I recently picked up some new gear though, so hopefully soon I'll have a little more variety in my collection.  I'm a sucker for that thing though, not going to lie haha.

This week I changed gears a bit. :] I am currently working on contributing music and SFX to a brand new Neo Geo video game from Fullset called Overserved! This track is for one of the arenas called Future City.

For context, the sound on the Neo Geo comes from the Yamaha YM2610 chip.

It features:

- 4 concurrent FM synthesis channels (voices), four operators per channel

- 3 SSG channels (square waves or digital noise)

- 6 ADPCM channels, 18.5 kHz sampling rate, 12-bit audio depth (I can only use 2 for the music, though - the rest are   reserved for SFX!)

The game is going to be similar to Bomberman, but a food fight!

I was using a CNC table to cut some polycarbonate (something I've done a lot of the past few months) and heard some interesting texture in the abrasive sound of it, so I wanted to try turning it into industrial drone techno. Sampled the audio, pitched it down, and added a lot of reverb to make it the spine of this track.

This isn't my best genre and I think this track could use some more time to cook. I like the intro enough that I hope to return to this one after WB2026 wraps up.

Not exactly the track I had in mind, but due to a --yet to be solved-- bug in the synth I was using, I quickly set this up.

I'd rather you listen to any other of my tracks, hehe.

that said;

I think I went a bit overboard and didn't cull enough of the sounds to make the lower gurgle bass-thingy really shine, but after already spending hours and hours on something else and *points at the great weather* I think just chilling and calling this done, is the right thing to do.

While im not particularly fond of it, its --for now-- the shortest track I've ever submitted to WB.

its almost 7 minutes shorter than average, hehe. (RPLKTR must be so proud).

I had to quit this song in a good way. Tried adding too many harmonies at first. I felt like the meaning of the lyrics got lost. So I eliminated a lot of them, and shifted to vocoder on some. Tried to keep it building the whole way through while not just adding sounds for the sake of being different.

A small victory, but I panned some of the synth solos for the first time, and I love how it trickles from one ear to the other (with headphones).

The stuff I do in Reaper is becoming automatic, and you all are a huge part of me learning it.

Keep up the good work on A YOUR WB, too! You can do it! I believe in you! Hope you enjoy.
