  • Week 22 - Tomatron.Jones - Keep It Simple, Stupid
I didn't start working on this one until the day it was due. Lofi-ish, kinda Flying Lotus sounding, mostly centered around a stand-up bass sample I chopped up and added a little swing-y beat to. A few synth samples and a shitty synth-guitar stab sound round it out. Tried keep it pretty minimal. Some Transit and RC-20 to add some lo-fi color. Ran out of time, there's plenty I'd fix, add some more percussion and fun sounds. Or it's good enough. Keep it simple, stupid.
    * Splice Samples for drums hits, synth, bass
    * RC-20, Transit, Valhalla plugins + Ableton stock plugins
    * Gullfoss + Izotope Elements for master
    Total Time - 3 hours, 15 minutes

  • Week 22 - Lizenn - Speed Limit is (Not) 22mph Here
Hi Everyone ! Heat is going down, and it's GOOD. I used the only two days when the heat was tolerable to try to make a song. I played a looooot of Forza Horizon 6 this week while listening japanese bangers (and a lot of "Diamond Girlfriend" from IRyS ft MOTSU), so here comes a track inspired by all those ! It was not fun making it at first because I tried to replicate stuff I heard with no success, and when I started freeing myself, I just got wild and...Made Modulations ! :DD (so in the end, very fun to make, and quite happy with how it ended up. Kinda want to sing or rap on that one day, we'll see about that !)
Sorry if it get stuck in your head like it got in mine ! (And if you like automobile, please show me a video of you driving fast listening this track (no don't it's for the joke...unless you really want... :DD))
Have a great week everyone !!

  • Week 22 - prophisee - Lost in my own mind
I was short on time and wrote this one freestyling. Also threw together the really quick reggae beat. Got a text while I was thinking that said “need anything at the grocery store?” and so I started with “what do I need?” Which somehow devolved into “late at night”. I was testing the freestyler feature of the app I’m working on and I think one of its suggestions based on “what do I need” was “I see things in my dreams” and it came from there.
› lyrics‹ lyricssometimes late at night, I don’t know why
i feel lost in my own mind
and tonight, what do i find?
all my fears are so unkind

  • Week 22 - gify - Ferrari Luce
Gouraud shading. Vertex lighting. Specular reflections. A 3d car on a turntable. Flip up headlights. You press start, and go!
Speedtrash trance is this week's theme. Had time to day but zero energy. Best I could do, lol.

  • Week 22 - Princent Vice - Radial
Wrote this in bed at 2am on Sunday. All FMS recorded into M8 for some fx, then some light mastering in Logic for iPad. Downsampling can reduce some of the hiss inherent to FMS. I haven’t figured how to carry a real melody with FMS since there isn’t a “song mode,” but i’m having a lot of fun.

  • Week 22 - PeterM - A THREAD
Super low effort this week folks. One take on the tempera and piano sampled into M8. 30 minutes start to upload. No plan. Several stumbles. Just making it happen. Thanks for your patience!

  • Week 22 - laguna - U get what I mean (question mark)
Superhurried last effort made in the 3 hours previous to the deadline.
I've spent most of my weekend on the phone trying to fix some work stuff, really stressing. No ideas,I just wanted to sleep while hearing soothing Youtube videos.
I make this nonsense using some pack of sounds from the ultralame and "meh" sounding drum module Akai XE8. Since they were so dull, it's in 4/4 with the hats and some kicks matching the triplet subdivision... polyrhythms? Maybe, I'm not sure.
I didn't knew what to do with such freaky beat so I threw some gated synth chord and interconnected modulations on 12th and what I think it's triplets. Sorry for the lack of theory and knowledge but I'm really sleepy.
Since my production was a complete mess I forced the bass to be heard by gating a filter applied to the whole drums with the bass amplitude, hence the name of the track.
It could easily be titled "Can you really tell something apart from this whole mess?"
Wishing you all a great 7 days in this Earth.
