  • Week 22 - emily - the rabbit & the blue moon (j&e)
a blue moon (a months with 2 full moons) comes every 2.7 years
today's blue moon is the "hare moon"
we stepped outside this morning to our little baby bunny friend veronica hopping over to say hello (she thought we had veggie peel compost snacks for her)... opened the door again about a half hour later & there were 2 kinda teenage bunnies, 1 baby bunny & 1 mama rabbit in sight from the porch...
jwh did a nice job explaining this track so i'll direct you to his page for more info & to check out what he did with the same source material...
goodbye May - hello June <3

  • Week 22 - levelcapybara - temples & triangles
Quick dungeon ambience sketch. Nowhere near Koji Kondo and crew’s level, but I had fun trying something less chord-driven and more percussion and pattern-focused.
This was maaaaaaybe inspired by replaying Ocarina of Time for the umpteenth time in my life. 😅 Fingers crossed for the rumored remake! <3
    Happy Week 22 everybody!

  • Week 22 - Tone Matrix - Brunt of the Storm
    › notes‹ notes
Well the Afib is still in the band unfortunately.  But it did heavily influence the mood of this track.  Thankfully the new med helps keep the episodes to an hour or two.  Now to just keep it away for a few weeks or months? tw00d be nice!
I thought I was going to drone this week as I sought inspiration from Red Means Recording's Ableton pack, "The Witch".  Whichhhh is a bunch of cool drone-like instruments sampled from Make Noise's Strega instrument.  (Thanks<3 go out to Neon Liminal for the recommendation)
I stumbled upon a preset pretty quick that inspired the main chord progression.
Piano and Epiano are from the Roland RD700GX.  Drums are a combo of SR-88 and Zebra. The rest of the synths are from Zebra as well.
I also need to catch up on my listening this week. :o
Thanks for stopping by and listening.  **ginger_waves** <3

  • Week 22 - skkmkk - Occam's Razor
Well what do you know. Was sure my streak was about to end because I had so busy week. On sunday I popped on my latest synth, Yamaha PSS-100 (chiptune heaven synth that was modded with an output), and hit some notes with it. No midi in that thing, so everything is bit off. Gives it a charm, right?
So, everything but the lead sound (Korg MS-20 vst) and bass patch (Kawai K4) comes off from pss-100 (yeah, drums, crunchy!).
Funny how everything in here formed in just a few hours really, and on seven tracks in Reaper. I guess BoC's new album, Inferno, got me on idm style fire today.
    Style: electro noir

  • Week 22 - Snyderman - SMS Plus Techno (SMS + OPLL)
Built off the last session for a usable template; didn't really start with a specific idea but thanks to ENC_ for the idea to do some lo-fi chip techno.
Other than the noise channel towards the middle, I pretty much didn't use the PSG chip and could have done without it for chip economy, oh well.
A few slight oddities in the track; there's a random 'delay' for a very long 16th and the last half is in 14/4 but I think it works well enough.

  • Week 22 - HoolieBrown - Neon Bridle
Psychedelic Western - started rabbit holing on it last week and noticed that about 99% of it is AI generated.  Decided to make some honestly - guitar was tracked this Sunday afternoon and didn't have time for a retake, but vibes are there :)
All done on M8 except for guitar tracking - went through Guitar Rig Pro b/c I don't have a tremolo on any amp here.

  • Week 22 - Stenny - self-soothe - i
When stress is still high and composing time is low, sometimes turning some knobs and some hastily slapped together loops is just what the doctor ordered. More an exercise in stress relief than a composition, this will be the first and inevitably not the last in a series of pieces that are more for me than for you all :)

  • Week 22 - slipball - Cure for the Common Cold
I hate getting colds, and I'm always looking for home remedies. These are from Citizen DJ (https://citizen-dj.labs.loc.gov). Anyone with better ideas please let me know!
Another song of samples done w/o a DAW. Still strange for me but I'm starting to get the hang of it.
But seriously, this is horrible medical advice. Don't drink kerosene, or eat so many oranges. It will NOT make you better.
