  • Week 22 - BarristerPlong - Bequin
Some slow jazz this week. An exercise in minimal progressions it's just an Amin7 to E7. Composition was a little tough this week cause my dumb ass injured my right hand which makes basically everything difficult.
Happy week 22! So close to the half way point!

  • Week 22 - evanericksonmusic - Steel and Siren
This week I was feeling really nostalgic for the techno my Dad would play when we went on road trips. I remember looking out the window as we drove by the large lake bordering Madison, Wisconsin while listening to spacious dnb like this.
Hope this rectifies my chaos streak I’ve been on. Between this and my track with Bobbyd, I held a lot of restraint to try and make songs with different structures. Despite how it may come across, I do really want to make “normal” music, too. I don’t want everything to be a challenge or a big selfish pot of ideas. A huge goalpost as a composer, though, is to figure out how to insert enough of yourself into something without it being derivative. When I make a song like this versus “The Club in My Pillow” (which I had my RMR lesson on today), it comes from a place of wanting to make something for other people instead of for myself. I’ve thought about it a lot… now that I do not get to play my clarinet anymore, which was my tool for bringing joy to my communities by playing for children, the elderly, and giving opportunities to under resourced musicians, I do not have much of an outlet for bringing people together.
So, that’s some of the energy tied to this song. Also check out bobbyd’s track that we collabed on this week. There’s a very charming vocaloid melody in it.

  • Week 22 - jegasus - The Ant Soldier
    ### Lore
His home was destroyed. He stood there, unable to react. Not even able to shed a tear for all who were inside when it happened. Pure numbness overtook him. After standing there for what felt like hours, staring vacantly at the ruins, he felt something inside him break. No longer willing to put up with the constant oppression, he picked up a long stick and headed towards the seat of power. His determination was magnetic: as he marched, others who had also been affected decided to join in and march by his side, arming themselves with whatever they could find along the way.
After two long days of travel, the group finally arrived. He looked back and saw his army had grown by the thousands! Tons of others, just like him, hungry with rage and thirsty for revenge. Sid was going to pay for what he did, no matter what kind of bug spray his parents applied on him.
    ### Production Details
This week I'm relying on some very basic core elements I've used in many other songs (song structure, sound palette, key signature, etc) because I couldn't afford to get fancy and experiment all that much. I didn't have much time for music making during the week and now I'm out traveling with family. I'm even posting this early on Saturday because I'll be driving most of Sunday. It's beach time, babyyyy! But anyways, that meant I had to save time and go super simple with this song, so I kept in A Minor and only used the M8's WAVSYNTH engine. I had started this piece sometime earlier in the week and then sat down and fleshed it out today over about an hour.
I'm really happy with the chromatic little pings that come in halfway and just do their own thing regardless of the key signature. I did not expect it to work well at all, but I feel like it ended up becoming one of the defining features of the song!
Sadky, no YouTube video for this one since eim on the road.
Hope y'all have a great week!!!

  • Week 22 - TheErinWaterShow - All We Need
    Week 22/Song 9
After a hiatus from song writing (been focusing on being one with nature, learning cover songs, and celebrating another year around the sun...sprinkled with adulting galore), I'm back and down to the wire for completing a song this month. I threw trying something new to the wind and decided to just let it roll and finally finish a song.
    Lyrics:
We don’t need superheroes flying around trying to save us all.
Capes and masks can not heal us from the pain within our soul.
All we need, all we need is a little love, faith, and hope.
All we need, all we need is a little love, faith, and hope.
We don’t need false idols making us feel so small.
Cheap thrills and masquerade balls concealing all that is real.
All we need, all we need is a little love, faith, and hope.
All we need, all we need is a little love, faith, and hope.
    (Instrumental)
We don’t need superheroes flying around trying to save us all.
We don’t need false idols making us feel so small.
All we need, all we need is a little love, faith, and hope.
All we need, all we need is a little love, faith, and hope.
All we need, all we need,
All we need, all we need is a little love, faith, and hope.
    A little love.
    A little faith.
    A little hope.
All we need, all we need is a little love, faith, and hope.

  • Week 22 - DESLRV - Dos de Ketchup
This is a remix of Dos de Mayo by Laguna, and we're more into ketchup, so naturally, this happened. It's still May when finishing this though.
This was meant to be a quick one since we're kinda busy this week, that's what it became. Just metal, and chips, and also a piano and choir, and remaking the bass so it pops better. Also birds.
