Been trying to come up with ideas for an EP for the past few days. This is one of them.

Ever had trouble with your gear? Sometimes it's yourself just doing it the wrong way, but on occasion something is really broken or at least needs restart. I should be more relaxed when those things happen.

Anyways, not much time this week since we went to SUPERBOOTH26 :) So expect (even) less polish than usual. There is plenty room for arrangement and sparkles.

Week 19

Goal at start 5/5

Focus on layers

End notes 5/7

This is one of the simpler songs I’ve done this year. For the whole song it just has two pad layers, one lead, one bass, plus a kick and a clap. Nonetheless it feels as full as anything else I’ve made. Moving forward I might try to reference more trance music to see how layers are handled in that genre.

Plan for next week:

Continue focus on layers. Choose a reference song where you can understand what’s going on with the layers and try to replicate that.

another week, another song. this feels rushed to me even though i spend more time on it then the last song. its really fun still to me still because of alot of the random samples i found and used. i found a vocal sample that i chopped it up and made it feel like yodeling, found a chill piano piece on youtube that is very chopped up. the bass sound is based on a sample of someone building a bowed instrument that had some crazy low frequencies.
