  • Week 19 - parappayo - Acid Birds
This is an experimental one for me, but pretty simple. I ran a TT-606 and TT-78 together with different tempo to create a slowly drifting polyrhythm. Then I played a TT-303 over it (Boss DS-1X for distortion here) and tweaked the tempo knob to create acid chirps kinda like birds. I could have done a better job but meh, life is stressful and I need the time for work. All mixed in Bitwig with Lush chords added.

  • Week 19 - deeckzeven - 7 dimension bean dip
This week is all M8 wavsynth. My initial aim was to avoid the chip tune tropes. But my percussion sounds just keep pulling it that direction. But it's fine. It's fine.
    Here's the M8 bundle if you're curious.

  • Week 19 - Stenny - Defragment Me! =)
Still kinda stumbling back into a consistent composition schedule, but life and work are definitely stepping all over that goal. Consider this another piece about me being in a frazzled place! Cafe wi-fi even chose to boot me mid-submission and kick me past the 5pm PDT deadline - alas, we ball. I slapped the panning on the squawky lo-fi characters a bit late in the game without listening to it through and didn't really like the result unfortunately, and the cohesion could use some work, but we can chalk it up to low time and motivation. Can't say I didn't learn stuff though! Namely, not pigeonholing on a single element and taking the time to take the piece on breadth first. Onward to week 20!!!

  • Week 19 - uhhuh_absolutely - Creek Bed
Took my M8 on a quick backpacking trip this weekend and made this tune while I was out there. I used a synth loop I'd previously recorded as the basis for the track. Recorded the creek I had my feet in as I worked on this and used it for some background texture. Quickly recorded some synth noodling over the top after I made it back home.
Here's the result! Hope everyone is doing well out there :)

  • Week 19 - ChillBitz - Past My Bedtime
First time I've had to resort to a late upload link =( Submission date and time should actually be 18 seconds before the deadline, hahaha
The render bugged out and I couldn't bear to let it be. I wasted so much time trying to come up with a title, that I ran out of time to double check that the track sounds as it should. Still not very satisfied with the title this has right now. It's one of the hardest things about this challenge, to be honest... anyway, some deep house this week. Started with the drums, which I rarely do. It turned out really groovy!

  • Week 19 - laguna - Kewl kids
Extra thanks to Wysefire for the last minute upload link !!! I'm looking for 3G signal like in a horror movie.
A quick pseudo jam / beat / idea born from browsing some Battery 4 presets. This is a piece of software that I've owned for years, yet I've never learnt to properly use. It was about time.
All in the box, Ableton Live 10 with Battery, one Operator preset and one FX send for the delay... and headphones. Sometimes simple is better :)
Missing your tracks a lot, because days are busy and not much time to catch up. Thanks a lot to all the people listening and leaving comments, even when I'm silent and absent myself. Means a lot.
Have some great 7 days, wherever you are.

  • Week 18 - codydjango - demo/splunk
didn't quite make it to the finish line! Here's an early capture. thanks for listening ๐Ÿ˜Š
edit: this came about from a little melody line on the sq1, then a harmony and some chords on the polysix, a sequenced evolving bass voice through a quantizer... create a second movement and a bridge, dialed levels on the mixer and a quick recording into reaper with my default mastering fx chain. rushed to get it in at the last minute... but now listening back to it, I kinda like it!
