kinda strapped for time this week as im helping a couple friends out with soundtracks/scores for some diy films (www.cinemadrome.org).  mix feels a bit off to me, but i did what i could with the time i had.

this is another lost media track circa '09-'10.  i was able to locate a few recordings of other songs from that time period and they were god awful. so even though this was one that i remember being really good, it probably sounds just as bad lol.   

got another piece of lost media i want to re-record next week, but have some ideas brewing for some new stuff in may (jfc its almost may)

started melodic with strange chords from playbox, matched it to a few other instruments and it was kinda chill. but then i added a huge basskick and it became kinda edm. added glitchy stuff to pigments then hyper glitchy reaktor percussion so i had to add rave generator but didn't quite know the key i was in, so i messed with some pitch bend. then it was all pitch bend and cool. painted things into arrangement and did microchops on the glitchy drums to be slightly more coherent. added wooshes and booms, as you do, then finished it off with a bbc sample about cassettes from the 80s, though some snippets are a little too low. i probably could've done better with the master chain too, but ah well. anyway, i like the pitch bendy part.

I have noticed the squirrels in the yard are ... squirrelly. I think they're digging up nutz and partying in the trees. Maybe they inspired this jam.

This is a quick edit of a live jam I had with License last week. He's not dong WB this year and is spending a lot of time volunteering to fight the good fight, which is awesome. We hadn't jammed in a while and it was fun. He was playing a modular setup I don't fully understand. Doing squirrelly sounds, and also drums from modular, which I hadn't heard before. I was impressed by the drum output. I did some Monostation bass synth and other squirrelly sounds. We played for over an hour. Will probably make a couple more tracks from this session.

Saw family this week in town for a memorial and some I hadn't seen for long time. It's nice that someone moving on can bring people together. Got to ride a carousel with my six year old niece. We saw a marmot who must have been partying with the squirrels. Feeling like spring is here, days longer, things growing. I'm ready.

I threw out everything I had for this week and cobbled this together in 2 hours instead. It's a dub, with me riding the following synth knobs during the render:

* Decay and Sustain on the Roland S-1

* Filter, Amp Decay, and cutting the Sub Octave once on the Behringer Cat.

Bassline and the Arp is from the Behringer Cat. Roland S1 is the main synth with the chords.

Sometimes you just gotta speedtrash so you can finish up all your other Sunday chores! :)
