  • Week 16 - Ruffian Price - Echo Generation
Modern underscore with some early 00s trappings. That lead near the end is like straight from a module. The rule I had with this one was, if a sound is too cheesy in context, lowpass it

  • Week 16 - Dustsucker - Drowned Out
"I saw death rising from the earth, from the ground itself, in one blue field, in stubbled color." - Philip K. Dick
› Production‹ ProductionThis one was played live with the OP1-F Digital synth through CWO and Terminal effects. Audio out over USB to the Dirtywave M8, which added chorus, delay, reverb and compression. M8 into TX-6, which added more compression and more reverb, and acted as the audio interface for recording into Logic. After a couple of takes I got something that felt pretty interesting.
Then I recorded two more layers with a plugin called Random. It's a strange instrument that makes very unique sounds. It's hard to make it do anything consistently, but it's fun to generate some samples if you need weird fluttering alien feedback sounds. For these extra layers I used the OP1-F as a midi keyboard, while at the same time messing around in the parameters of the plugin with my mouse. Of course had to add a bit of reverb on top (Fabfilter Pro-R), because ambient.
On the master bus I added more reverb (Fors Sala) and some basic EQ, compression and tape saturation and that's about it.

  • Week 16 - orbit_normal - In The Blind
I started this one using only a single track on the M8, which was a super fun exercise. The result turned out to be something way more minimal than I would usually end up with.
I also spent a bit of time focusing on learning some mixing techniques. I don't think any of the techniques here were deployed particularly well and I pretty much ran out of time near the end. Still, any feedback is appreciated!

  • Week 16 - Princent Vice - Bifurcated
Started this idea last week, wanted to give it another week to cook. I need to get myself some more genre appropriate drum samples instead of just processing 909 sounds.
No external processing, just straight out of the M8.

  • Week 16 - mzunguko - CORNERED
Back in the box for another week, I had the chords and basic drums looped in my archive. Threw a guitar lick and arps bass etc, to round it out. Very busy this week. I hope you enjoy.
My favorite u-he synths on this one.

  • Week 16 - Xjs - A Stab of Confusion
I felt really uninspired this week, and also quite un_motivated_ somehow. So I just pieced something weird together.

  • Week 16 - sandyMclandy - Try Not to Worry Too Much
I woke up this morning and programmed a little piece using fm synths on the m8.
I then took those patterns and changed the instruments on the m8 to be midi out.
Sent that midi to my trusty old Nord Stage ex. (Used to be my live keyboard).
It sounded very rigid and robotic so I messed with the tempo control via tables.
I messed with the parameters until it started to get close to sounding like maybe a human was playing it.
I routed the midi to organ, and two separate piano's on the nord so I could mix the left and right hand parts a little.
Then I manually played the sustain pedal while recording the audio from the keyboard.

  • Week 16 - lasko303 - bye bye
    Hi gang!
Wish i had more time to work on this, cause i really like the idea of this track. Feels a bit unpolished.. so business as usual i guess :D
Again relying heavily on splice samples in this one.
    Thanks for listening!
bye bye, see you next week :)

  • Week 16 - uhhuh_absolutely - Roadtrip
Made this on the way to a camping trip to the Channel Islands, almost didn’t bother since I’m in the car all day. Found an old project with some chords and a beat to add onto to. Pretty happy with the result! Noticing that I’m getting a bit more comfortable on the M8 overall!
Rendered and transferred to my phone to post.
