  • Week 15 - 52beats - End of street
An expression of my current emotional state as I composed the song while waiting at the airport in the few hours before my flight. It begins with sadness, followed by excitement, and ultimately concludes where it began. I’m currently leaving for a trip to New York City and will miss my family. The song captures the excitement of the journey, but ultimately ends with the profound longing to return to my loved ones. This marks my first long trip since my son was born. I’m not sure why I chose the title; I simply liked the name.

  • Week 15 - LeCroqueMonsieur - Ogre & gobelin
Welcome to my home dungeon! You’ve just opened a door and a gobelin and an ogre sleep. What do you do? (Roll for perception?)
In your left ear you’ll hear my daughter snore and in the right my dog on the first few beats. Both continue throughout the song.
The song then will evolve with melody echoing each side, layering the perfect slumber of my little goblin and my gentle ogre, mixed with guitar and a crescendo for a light finish.
This is yet another creation of iPhone, where all my project was lost (including the midi drum track…) by Thursday and I had to rush it afterwards, including a last sprint with the elusive guitar that I couldn’t nail until Sunday 4pm on my recorder (rocky setup with no monitoring). Mixing and mastering on iPhone is no piece of cake, but I found the perfect trick for the drums. Happy about them so far!
It lacks in some areas but I’m happy about it.

  • Week 15 - Crash Overture - Whirly experiment
I ended up using a choral synthesiser and the the whirly in garageband. I duplicated both tracks and used slowed down or reversed with lower semitones to play against each other. I wanted to see if parts made discord and if parts worked together. There are certain parts where I said 'Oh I like that' and other parts where I was like, how do I make this less awful. lol  I mess around with adding drums, but it kinda didn't work with it.
My niece got me into Mili and I was little inspired by listening to her various Library of Ruina and Limbus Company songs.

  • Week 15 - dreat - Skulls
7/4 again, second try with 24EDO and probably last one for some time.
I had way more ambitious plans, but life happened. I'm still following the tribal vibes for last week and while this one is shorter and less developed, I got some new ideas for next week that I want to try.
Still I'm pretty happy with core stuff here, wish I had more time and energy to develop it further

  • Week 15 - Michael Morrow - Home
Raise up the valleys and lay the mountains low. Let nothing stand in the way when God comes to rescue his people. Isaiah spoke of a highway for God (Isaiah 40:3-4) and a highway for the redeemed to return home (Isaiah 35:8-10). I can’t say why I remembered this beautiful image this week. I can’t say where this melody came from on Friday night. And I can’t say why everything I had begun writing about this week no longer seemed relevant when I sat down to play the new melody on Saturday. All I can say is that this melody felt like home, not my home on earth, but home with Jesus. It feels crazy to upload a song that didn’t exist only two days ago. I’m not used to working at this kind of pace. Maybe it’s undercooked, but I like it.
    Gotta keep moving on
    I’m heading for home
    A house built by Jesus
    Is where I belong
    Joy awaits me
I will dance with the saints
    Don’t hold me back
    I am heading for home
Mountains bow, all you valleys rise up
Make a highway, the redeemed are returning
I will sing as I’m running
    For the joy that awaits
    No turning back
This world is not my home
    On the highway of God
    There’s no room for sin
    My eyes like to wander
    But I won’t give in
    Eyes on Jesus
He will show me the way
    Don’t hold me back
    I am heading for home
    Mountains bow…

  • Week 15 - krasher - In Apathy
I was feeling completely lethargic last week when I started this, and I wanted to try to make it sound like how I felt. Outside the sky was dark grey, and I was laying on my bed with my laptop, the bed filled with stuff since i didn't have energy to clean.
Today I finished it up with some percussions, and I recorded some foley noises on top.
