  • Week 14 - HexDroid - Shorelines (2nd Revision)
For this week I thought I'd remake one of my favourite sample-slops. Hope you enjoy! (Apologies if it's a little quiet in some areas, as well.)
    Original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo0dAB_v-3Q
(I'm continuing with sample-only tracks for now while practicing MIDI. I hope you understand.)

  • Week 14 - eleventhstage - Behind The Curve Of An Age
Moved back to Ableton and went heavy DnB again this week. Scrapped a couple of sounds and directions throughout the week to end up with this track. Used Massive and FM8 for the 2 bass sounds.
    Enjoy.

  • Week 14 - endojo - Subtle As Stone
This one features D-Car on the raps. Learned a bunch of tricks and things for vocals with this one. Harmonies just have a little reverb on them, no mods.

  • Week 14 - NeonRebar - Till we vanish
The dusty floor boards of this flat seem to creak without either of us making a move. Late afternoon deep blues and smokey orange bleed through the blinds. Rush hour city noise filters through and theres that helicopter... seems to be hanging there not moving on.
We dont dare make any moves till full dark. We're on knife edge alert to everything, every sound, every glint of light.
This is the lather of life on the run. The odds are not in our favor but Im a restless, snarling pit viper to the bloody end. Ill take them all with me.
Just down the hall I think I hear that creak again. That copter is getting louder.

  • Week 14 - Entropica - Faximilion
Anxious, nervous, negative, psychedelic cyber-noise-jazz303 Mantra plows through childish electric piano screwery. Stream-of unconsciousness is vocoded and er
Jamming the fuck out on electric piano and speaking nonsense into a vocoder over a relentless 303 bassline loop that is probably the first one you would here the first time you powered the TB on. Dark-tech-jazz. Smoke weed to this and find the white rabbit.

  • Week 14 - impbox - Drifting Back
Fell off the WB wagon for a bit, but I'm back!
Interrupt Festival and surrounding events were amazing but really interrupted my flow. As did getting an AE Modular setup and Microcosm and crunchy work time.
But this week it's something different, a mysterious handheld groovebox through Octatrack FX, cue out to Microcosm, a bit of post in M8 and Ableton. Feels very fluid and natural.

  • Week 14 - loteq - blurgh
didn't have as much time as i would have liked again this week, and again it feels like another half baked idea haha. this week started well with some interesting 4x4 rhythms but really struggled to get a good bassline that could be the framework to build some melodic structure whilst fitting the tone of the larger project idea i have been trying to develop.
as the last few weeks have not felt very creatively rewarding, it feels like these tracks have been straying further and further from that initial idea/framework to the point of not even recognising what it was in the first place.
the week to week deadlines have been good when the flow state of music making kicks in because you have a stopping point where you can focus on the best segments, but is really rough when ideas aren't clicking and you can't get anything that up to par but need to get something submitted.
the mix on this one is quite rough but hopefully you find something enjoyable in here.
thanks for listening and i'll be trying again next week!
