  • "Exactly Nothing Like You" by Dark Weirdness
"Exactly Nothing Like You" — upbeat 90s-style melodic punk-pop rock with distorted guitars and three-part harmonies, about the kind of breakup that ends with a thank-you note instead of a grudge.

A one-off detour from the usual Dark Weirdness fare — written in the passenger seat during a day-long road trip between Illinois and Kansas City, with nothing paranormal, criminal, or unsettling in sight. Just a fun, sunny pop song that happened to show up and ask to be written.

All Dark Weirdness releases eventually reach streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, and most other major services under Weird Darkness Records.

  • "The Name On The Door (Means Nothing At All" by Static Wax
"The Name On The Door (Means Nothing At All)" is a 1970s-style pop ballad inspired by For Want of a Nail, an episode of the CBS Radio Mystery Theater originally broadcast on August 12, 1977. The story follows a cheerful, unsuspecting housewife whose plane makes an emergency landing in a strange city — and a chance visit to her husband's biggest customer sets off a chain of events that will shatter everything she thought she knew about her life, her marriage, and the man she loved.

Static Wax from Weird Darkness Retro Radio brings old radio drama back to life through original songs written in the musical style of the era each story takes place in. Every song is a standalone journey into a different time and a different tale. This one takes you to the 1970s — and into the arms of a stranger who was never really yours.

  • "Run, Run, Run From The Hey-O!" by Monster Flakes
    ABOUT MONSTER FLAKES
Monster Flakes is a band of cryptids and creatures playing bubblegum monster-surf — the things that usually do the haunting, plugged in and playing the chase music instead.Monster Flakes are a six-piece bubblegum monster-surf band made up of the creatures usually doing the haunting. Hat Man fronts the group — the one creature with absolutely no facial features somehow still has all the stage presence — backed by Bigfoot on bass, Mothman on guitar, Chupacabra on drums, and the Flatwoods Monster on Farfisa, with the Fresno Nightcrawlers swaying in a line as the wordless “ba-ba-ba” backup trio. They set up wherever the haunting is that week, play till the candles gutter, and leave nothing behind but a sound in the walls and not one clear photo to prove they were there. All Monster Flakes releases eventually reach streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, and most other major services under Weird Darkness Records.

    [Verse 1]
Big house on the hill where the swells all dine,
    Chandelier candlelight, everything's fine —
Then a moan comes a-creepin' up under the floor,
And the cook drops the soup and she's gone out the door!
Miss Soames in her diamonds got nobody home,
The maids hit the bricks and she's haunted alone,
There's a voice in the vents and it won't say hello
    — It just goes —
    [Chorus]
    Hey-o! (Hey-o!) Somethin' in the walls goin' hey-o! (Hey-o!)
Bar the front door — now where'd everybody go?
You can sprint down the hall but you're stuck in the show!
Hey-o! (Hey-o!) Run, run, run from the hey-o!
    [Verse 2]
Knockin' on the panel — what's behind the wall?
A teeny secret room that's no room at all!
The door's on a chain, ain't a soul slippin' through,
How'd the spook get out with nothin' to undo?
The rival's in the doorway with a grin and a glare,
The ghoul got angry from her crowd in there,
And the bump on the butler? Watch it start to grow
    — 'Cause it goes —
    [Chorus]
    Hey-o! (Hey-o!) Somethin' in the walls goin' hey-o! (Hey-o!)
Bar the front door — now where'd everybody go?
You can sprint down the hall but you're stuck in the show!
Hey-o! (Hey-o!) Run, run, run from the hey-o!
    [Bridge]
Twenty-four dollars bought the whole durn isle,
Glass beads on the table, shake a hand, crack a smile —
But a deal that lopsided never does stay sold,
And the chief wants it back with a century's worth of gold!
Give it — take it — give it — take it back,
Everybody in the mansion's runnin' the very same racket — Hey-o!
    [Chorus]
    Hey-o! (Hey-o!) Somethin' in the walls goin' hey-o! (Hey-o!)
Bar the front door — now where'd everybody go?
You can sprint down the hall but you're stuck in the show!
Hey-o! (Hey-o!) Run, run, run from the hey-o!
    [Verse 3]
Grab the rubber bump and give the thing a tug —
It's the butler in the greasepaint, he's the spook on the rug!
Made a promise to the master on his cold dyin' day
"Keep the widow good and rattled" — and he's earnin' his pay!
But she weds the detective and the haunting's all through —
    She's a bride, not a widow, ain't a thing he can do!
Pick a ghost, pick a grifter, either way, here we go,
    With a —
    [Final Chorus]
    Hey-o! (Hey-o!) Somethin' in the walls goin' hey-o! (Hey-o!)
Bar the front door — now where'd everybody go?
There's a ghost AND a con and they both run the show!
Hey-o! (Hey-o!) Run, run, run from the hey-o!
    [Outro]
    (Hey-o... hey-o... hey-o...)

  • "Ghosts of the Nancy Hale" by Crossroads Haint
Eight flawless pearls, six native divers, and a captain willing to do the math — the sea keeps better books than he does.

ABOUT THE SONG: "Ghosts of the Nancy Hale" — Southern Gothic blues with Chicago and Bayou influence. Inspired by the Weird Darkness Retro Radio presentation of Creeps by Night — "The Six Who Did Not Die," originally broadcast July 11, 1944. Eight flawless pearls, six native divers, and a captain willing to do the math — the sea keeps better books than he does.Every track is inspired by the strange, the haunted, the historical, and the occasionally unspeakable stories covered on the Weird Darkness podcast — murder ballads, cursed places, restless spirits, and the kind of folklore that keeps front porch lights burning all night.

ABOUT THE SOURCE EPISODE: "The Six Who Did Not Die" aired on Creeps by Night on July 11, 1944, on the Blue Network, and was rebroadcast on the Armed Forces Radio Service program Mystery Playhouse hosted by Peter Lorre. The story is set aboard the sloop Nancy Hale, anchored off the atoll of Mandariva in the Gambier Islands, and follows the captain's decision to murder his six native pearl divers rather than split the take from an unusually rich bed. When he returns for more, the sea is waiting with its own verdict.

  • "Let Me See Your Face" by Static Wax
"Let Me See Your Face" is a 1920s Delta blues song inspired by ‘Let Me See Your Face’, an episode of Beyond Midnight — the South African horror anthology that aired on Springbok Radio from 1968 to 1970 — originally broadcast on April 14, 1969. Though the episode aired in the late 1960s, the story itself is set in 1920s, making Delta blues the natural musical language for this tale. When a writer takes a room at a quiet Rouen hotel, a mysterious woman glimpsed alone in the moonlit garden at midnight awakens in him a fascination so powerful, no warning — and no fear — can stop him from seeking her face.

Static Wax from Weird Darkness Retro Radio brings old radio drama back to life through original songs written in the musical style of the era each story takes place in. Every song is a standalone journey into a different time and a different tale.

  • "I Don't Know" by Incorruption
"I Don't Know" is a post-grunge hard rock anthem about the honest refusal to name what you can't identify. Built around a real UFO sighting over Iowa, the song argues that the three most faithful words a Christian — or anyone — can say about an unexplained experience are the three words they least want to say. Gritty vocals, arena-sized choruses, and a Bereans-anchored bridge that calls the listener to test everything rather than dismiss or invent. Heavy distorted guitar, walking bass, punchy drums, and orchestral swells carry a message most rock songs wouldn't dare touch.

ABOUT THE SOURCE MESSAGE…This song is based on the Church of the Undead episode "I Saw A UFO Over Iowa — And I Refuse To Tell You What It Was," in which Weird Darkness host Darren Marlar recounts a real sighting he had driving through Iowa with his wife, Robin. He watched a shiny object make a ninety-degree turn inside a cloud, reverse direction, and vanish. Rather than claim it was aliens, demons, or angels, he refuses to name what he saw — and builds an entire message around the biblical discipline of testing everything, the Berean posture from Acts 17, and the faithful admission of I don't know. The episode critiques the two reflexes most people fall into when something strange happens: dismissal and invention. "I Don't Know" distills the message into a rock anthem without softening its edges.

ABOUT CHURCH OF THE UNDEAD... Church of the Undead is the weekly Christian message from the Weird Darkness podcast hosted by Darren Marlar. It explores faith, discernment, and the supernatural from a biblical perspective — bringing a Christian lens to the paranormal, unexplained, and dark corners of the human experience. The show blends serious theology with the weird, the unsettling, and the culturally marginalized — reaching listeners who love the shadowed side of storytelling and want their faith to engage with it honestly.

ABOUT INCORRUPTION... Incorruption is a Christian rock band building post-grunge, arena-sized anthems out of real theology and hard questions. Heavy guitars, gritty vocals, and lyrics that refuse to soften the gospel for mass appeal. Songs that wrestle instead of preach, that testify instead of platitude, that land somewhere between the pulpit and the mosh pit.

  • "The Leech" by Static Wax
"The Leech!" is a novelty doo-wop song inspired by "The Leech," a 1954 episode of the classic radio horror anthology Nightmare(April 7, 1954). When a desperate man kills his lover's husband to finally set them free, he discovers that getting rid of a body is far easier said than done — and the dead have a terrifying way of refusing to stay gone.

Static Wax from Weird Darkness Retro Radio brings old radio drama back to life through original songs written in the musical style of the era each story takes place in. Every song is a standalone journey into a different time and a different tale.

This one takes you to 1954 — and into an office where nobody can leave, least of all the man who should already be dead.

    "The Leech!"by Static Wax

INTRO (spooky vocal group, playful and theatrical) Beware, beware, beware of The Leech! (doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-waaaah) He's closer than you think, just within your reach! (doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-waaaah)

VERSE 1 (ABAB) Tom fell for Iris like a fool in the spring She was married to Peter, a powerful man They marched to his office to end the whole thing But Peter just laughed and said, "No, not your plan!"

VERSE 2 (ABAB) He said, "I'll destroy you, I'll ruin your name!" Tom's hands found his throat and he silenced the guy They figured that Peter had lost at his game But Peter had one final trick left to try

CHORUS (AABB) The Leech! The Leech! He just won't go away! (doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-waaaah) The Leech! The Leech! He's gonna make you pay! (doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-waaaah) You can't shake him loose no matter what you do That clingy dead leech is gonna stick to you!

VERSE 3 (ABAB) The cleaning woman came in with her mop A messenger knocked and refused to depart They stuffed Peter in the closet to stop The whole operation from falling apart

VERSE 4 (ABAB) The closet locked tight from the inside, oh my! Six hours they waited while Peter just grinned His arm started moving, ol' Pete wouldn't die And every new plan that they made came unpinned

CHORUS The Leech!

BRIDGE (AAB CCB) They dragged him out to the window up high Twenty-five floors above the street in the sky Seemed like the perfect solution! But Peter's cold fingers wrapped tight round Tom's wrist And Tom found his name added right to the list Of problems without resolution!

FINAL CHORUS The Leech!

OUTRO (theatrical and fading, group voices echo) Beware... beware... beware of The Leech! (doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-waaaah)He'll cling to your ankle and pull you beneath! (doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-waaaah) So if you're in love with somebody's wife... (doo-wop...) Just make sure... the husband... stays unalive (doo-waaaaah...)

  • "Don't Listen To The Thing That Calls Your Name" by Crossroads Haint
Based on the classic story “The Wendigo” by Algernon Blackwood

    ABOUT CROSSROADS HAINT
Crossroads Haint is the blues project from Weird Darkness Records — Chicago Blues fused with Delta Blues, told through a Southern Gothic lens. Slide guitar, harmonica, and the kind of vocal that carries the weight of what it is telling. Blues From The Other Side.

    VERSE
Five men rode into the northern trees,
Rifles slung and rations stored beneath the pines
Cathcart read the woods like books on shelves
But the forest wrote its own between the lines
    VERSE
Défago kept his hands too close to the fire
His eyes kept drifting where the shadows grew
He whispered of a thing that walks the moss
A hunger with a name he wouldn't chew
    PRE-CHORUS
Up where the north wind blows
Up where the cold pines stand
    Your name this something knows
    Something extends its hand
    CHORUS
    Something is out there calling
A voice just around the bend
    Something is out there crawling
It wears the face of your friend
    Don't answer when it calls
    Don't follow where it leads
    The forest feeds on all
    And it ignores your pleas
Don’t listen to the thing that calls your name
Don’t listen to the thing that calls your name
    VERSE
The guide bolted barefoot through the snow
Screaming of his burning feet and skin
His tracks ran out with nowhere left to go
Like the ground swallowed and closed him in
    VERSE
Simpson tracked him till the trail went strange
Till the footprints spanned too wide for man
One stride covered twenty feet of range
    Then vanished, disappeared mid span
    PRE-CHORUS
Up where the north wind blows
Up where the cold pines stand
    Your name this something knows
    Something extends its hand
    CHORUS
    Something is out there calling
A voice just around the bend
    Something is out there crawling
It wears the face of your friend
    Don't answer when it calls
    Don't follow where it leads
    The forest feeds on all
    And it ignores your pleas
Don’t listen to the thing that calls your name
Don’t listen to the thing that calls your name
    BRIDGE
Days later they found him limping home
Eyes like glass, skin not his own
His voice, from a thousand miles away
Then crumbled into ash, bone, and decay
The man came back long enough to die
Whispered of the heights, the wind, the sky
Of a thing that scooped him up through the trees
And threw him down broken in the winter breeze
    VERSE
Cathcart closed his notebook, closed his case
    Packed his rational instruments away
Some things live beyond time and space
Some truths the wilderness will never say
    PRE-CHORUS
Up where the north wind blows
Up where the cold pines stand
    Your name this something knows
    Something extends its hand
    CHORUS
    Something is out there calling
A voice just around the bend
    Something is out there crawling
It wears the face of your friend
    Don't answer when it calls
    Don't follow where it leads
    The forest feeds on all
    And it ignores your pleas
Don’t listen to the thing that calls your name
Don’t listen to the thing that calls your name
    Don’t listen
    Don’t listen
    Don’t listen
    Don’t listen
    Don’t listen
    Don’t listen

  • "Dinosaur" by Dark Weirdness
    [Verse 1]
Book of Job, if you probe, you'll find a mighty beast
No one can catch him, no one can snatch him
He has a tail as big as a tree
Could it be what it seems to be?
Oh, what a surprise, it was right there in front of my eyes
    [Chorus]
    It sounds like a dinosaur
    What are they waiting for?
Well, it sounds like a dino, but what do I know?
It sounds like a dino-saur to me
    [Verse 2]
The giant one, Leviathan, he'll make you beg for mercy
He's a flyer with his fire, he's a dragon from the sea
Could it be? I just scare easily
But it says right here, he causes everyone fear
    [Chorus]
    It sounds like a dinosaur
    What are they waiting for?
Well, it sounds like a dino, but what do I know?
It sounds like a dino-saur to me
    [Bridge]
It seems very clear what's reliable
The truth is right here in the books of the Bible
    [Guitar Solo]
    [Verse 3]
A big lake, a big snake, a monster with a mighty roar
Loch Ness, my guess, is that it's a plesiosaur
Could it be they just don't want to see
They try to disguise what's right in front of their eyes
    [Chorus]
    It sounds like a dinosaur
    What are they waiting for?
Well, it sounds like a dino, but what do I know?
It sounds like a dino-saur to me
    [Outro]
    It sounds like a dinosaur
    What are they waiting for?
Well, it sounds like a dino, but what do I know?
It sounds like a dino-saur to me
    It sounds like a dinosaur

  • “Services Rendered” by Alena Ingram
A woman designs every room of a railroad millionaire's mansion, gets handed an envelope of cash and a goodbye on the night the work is finished, and makes him one promise about that house before she goes up to the library alone.

SONG SYNOPSIS: He builds the house and she designs it. She sets the library windows high so the light comes in without the damp, picks the oak for the ceiling beams, and gives every room the grace his money couldn't buy on its own, and the whole time she is building it for herself. On the night the work is finished he drives out to end things, tells her he never once said he loved her, and lays an envelope of cash on the table for services rendered. She won't touch it. She tells him the house belongs to her, that no other woman will ever sit in it without feeling like a trespasser, and that she'll be there forever, and then she asks him to leave because she has something to do. The watchman finds her at six the next morning, hanging from one of the beams she chose. The note she leaves promises that everything alive in her walked into that house at sunrise and stays. The house never opens again. A hundred years of paid grounds crews and heated empty rooms, a thousand acres and a private lake carried on the company books as an asset nobody will touch, because the men who own it know what the library did to the man who built it. She isn't grieving in there. She's keeping the place ready, she's counting the ones who share his name, and she has been hungry for a very long time.

    SONG DESCRIPTION:
Inspired by "The Avenging Ghost of Kitty Morgan" by CBS Radio Mystery Theater from August 4th, 1978, as heard in the Weird Darkness Retro Radio episode of the same title: https://weirddarkness.com/wdrr0760/She chose the oak for the beams and set the library windows high so the books would keep, and she believed every board of it was going to be hers. On the last night of the work the man who paid for it told her he had never said he loved her, put an envelope of cash on the table, and called it payment for the woman's touch she gave the place. She left the money where it sat. By six the next morning the watchman had found her under the beams she picked out herself, and the house has stood empty and heated and swept for a hundred years since, waiting on the rest of his family. Services Rendered.

    ABOUT ALENA INGRAM:
Alena Ingram is a solo vocalist on Weird Darkness Records – a voice built for the years between 1945 and 1965. Smoky, gravel-edged, and all attitude, she sings like she knows more than she's letting on. Sultry, guarded, and just a little dangerous, she doesn't have a single mood so much as a single presence: she becomes whatever the song needs. Candlelit lounge or packed ballroom, if it lives somewhere in those two decades, it sounds like it was waiting for her.

    SERVICES RENDERED
    by Alena Ingram

I chose the oak they cut for every beam,
I set the windows high to save the books.
You paid the men to build the thing I'd dreamed,
And gave it all the grace your money took.
You came out on the evening it was done,
Said you never promised me your vow.
You called me country, I was only fun,
I loved you but you left me anyhow.
    You can’t disavow…
Services rendered – that's the phrase you used
The night you paid me off after leaving my bed.
You bought a woman's touch, you thought you'd paid your dues,
And I remember every word you said.
It's my house – every stair and every beam,I live in every room, every floor and seam.I won’t let another woman stay,I may be dead but I’m not going away.
    My vengeance is tendered,Services rendered.
The money's where you left it, it’s all there,
I never touched a dollar of that price.
I stayed in this house, I’m everywhere,I warned you before with my advice.
They pay a man to walk the halls at night,They keep the furnace burning through the snow.
The deed says it's yours, but the deed's not right,
And every man who's signed it comes to know.
    They end up below…
Services rendered – that's the phrase you used
The night you paid me off after leaving my bed.
You bought a woman's touch, you thought you'd paid your dues,
And I remember every word you said.
It's my house – every stair and every beam,I live in every room, every floor and seam.I won’t let another woman stay,I may be dead but I’m not going away.
    My vengeance is tendered,Services rendered.
You'll send your sons and theirs to see the place,
They'll come up that long drive with your same face.
I'll leave a lamp on. I will set the chair.
I'll let them get so comfortable in there.
And one by one they'll learn what you still owe,
    Because a debt this old does… not… let… GO!!!
Services rendered – that's the phrase you used
The night you paid me off after leaving my bed.
