We had the joy of finishing our Romans series in chapter 16, looking at what it means to be a church shaped by the gospel. Paul closes his letter with a long list of greetings, but as we saw, it’s much more than end credits. It’s a picture of the gospel at work—bringing together men and women, Jew and Gentile, rich and poor, young and old—one diverse family in Christ. We were reminded that a gospel-shaped church is called to honour one another, guard against division, and ultimately bring glory to Jesus in everything we do. Romans begins and ends with the same truth: the gospel of Jesus is for all people, and it is this good news that shapes us into His family.

He walked us through Paul’s reflections on ministry and future plans, using them to help us think about making big decisions in our own lives. Larey encouraged us to know our calling and purpose in Christ, to make ambitious plans in partnership with Him, and to invite others to pray with us while trusting God’s providence. He reminded us that while our plans may shift, what matters most is living faithfully in step with Jesus.
