In This Message
1. Build Strong Faith into People’s Lives
(Colossians 2:1)
Paul cared deeply for believers he had never met personally and labored for their spiritual growth. The sermon emphasizes that Christians can help build strong faith in others through prayer, encouragement, testimony, and faithful investment.
2. Have an Attitude of Love and Encouragement
(Colossians 2:2; 2 Peter 3:18; Hebrews 10:25; Ephesians 4:31)
Paul wanted the church to be encouraged and knit together in love. Strong faith grows in a church family where believers care for one another, restore one another gently, and encourage one another to keep following Christ.
3. Be Confident in God’s Mysterious Plan, Which Is Christ
(Colossians 2:2; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 8:15–17)
God’s revealed plan is centered in Christ Himself. The sermon highlights the confidence believers can have because they are saved, adopted into God’s family, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and given truth that can be shared with others.
4. Rely on Christ’s Wisdom and Knowledge
(Colossians 2:3–4)
All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are found in Christ. Paul warned against persuasive arguments and false teaching, reminding believers that Christ is enough and that true spiritual understanding comes through Him.
5. Commit to Do What Is Right and Follow God’s Instructions
(Colossians 2:5–6; Revelation 3:14–22)
Paul rejoiced that the Colossians were living as they should and remaining strong in faith. The sermon calls believers to continue following Christ, obey God’s Word, respond to the Holy Spirit, and avoid spiritual indifference.
6. Build on the Secure Foundation of Christ
(Colossians 2:7)
Believers are called to let their roots grow down into Christ and let their lives be built on Him. A strong faith needs a secure foundation that can endure storms, confusion, temptation, and difficulty.
7. Overflow with Thankfulness
(Colossians 2:7)
As faith grows strong in the truth, thankfulness overflows. The sermon concludes by showing that a life built on Christ becomes grateful for salvation, God’s provision, meaningful service, and the opportunity to make an eternal difference.
