IN THIS MESSAGE

#1 STEP UP BY DENYING YOURSELF DAILY

Jesus calls His disciples to deny themselves. Pastor Chris explains that this means giving Christ priority over the desire to control our lives, protect our pride, or follow the world’s values. We can care for ourselves while refusing to make our own wants the authority over our choices. (Luke 9:23; Romans 12:2; Galatians 2:20)

#2 STEP UP BY CARRYING YOUR CROSS BOLDLY

Taking up your cross means identifying with Jesus and following Him even when obedience brings sacrifice or opposition. It does not mean that every hardship is a cross to bear, nor is suffering a way to earn forgiveness. Jesus calls His followers to a daily commitment to Him. (Matthew 10:38; Luke 9:23)

#3 STEP UP BY TRADING LOSS FOR ETERNAL GAIN

Jesus warns that a person can gain the world and still lose what matters most. The rich man who walked away from Jesus shows how possessions can hold someone back from following Him. Pastor Chris urges us to value life with Christ above temporary security, status, and approval. (Matthew 5:11-12; Mark 10:17-22; Luke 9:24-25)

#4 STEP UP BY PUTTING CHRIST FIRST IN EVERYTHING

Paul came to regard his former gains as loss compared with knowing Christ. His example challenges us to examine what we prize most and whether we are willing to place it under Jesus’ leadership. (Philippians 3:7-8)

#5 STEP UP BY PRESSING ON TOWARD GOD’S PURPOSE

Paul did not claim that he had already reached the goal. He kept pressing forward because Christ had taken hold of him. Following Jesus is an ongoing pursuit, sustained by His grace as we continue to grow and serve. (Philippians 3:12)

Consider where your plans, reputation, or possessions compete with your commitment to Jesus. He died and rose again to give life to those who trust Him. Ask Him to help you follow Him faithfully today, and speak with someone who can help if you are still wondering what it means to know Him.

#4 LIVE AS A CITIZEN OF HEAVEN

Believers belong to Christ and await His return. Pastor Chris closes by urging Christians to work together, remain focused, and keep serving when difficulties come. Our citizenship in heaven should shape how we live and serve here. (Philippians 3:20; Ephesians 6:10-18)
