  • 253. How Wrestling Saved His Life (and How to Pay It Forward) W/ Bill O'Brien

We welcome our friend Bill O'Brien to the show. Bill shares a very deep and personal story about perseverance after overcoming suicidal thoughts. After being bullied at a young age, Bill slipped into a food-based depression which caused him to become considerably overweight. This caused Bill to have some dark thoughts about taking his own life. Fortunately, Bill's strong family nucleus and decision to start Wrestling saved his life. We talk about how Wrestling/BJJ shaped who he is today, men's mental health, the importance of a healthy diet, his relationship with food, and more. Bill's message is clear; if someone asks you for 5 minutes of your time, give it. It will make an incredible difference. Bill is also in the works of creating an Adaptive Jiu Jitsu program to help people with disabilities, so if you would like to help, please reach out to Bill.

  • 252. Don’t Read This Book on Halloween w/ Sean

Sean bought a snakeskin-bound book from the 1800s at a garage sale for $1, and what's inside scares him. Then he brought something to balance it out: a Bible carried by a WWII soldier. Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! This year, we thought ahead and brought back our friend, Sean, for some spooky fun. If you have not already, go back to episodes 191 and 201 for Sean's other episodes in which we talk about conspiracy (MK Ultra, paranormal, etc.).

Sean always brings receipts, so if you are a "source" guy, we got it for you in those episodes. Today, our conversation focuses on the spooky. Topics include the theory of interdimensional travel in Antarctica, a Bible from a WWII soldier, and a snake wrapped book from the 1800's with some interesting topics about eternal life and more. Remember, the veil is thinnest, this time of year.

  • 251. Stop Giving Away Your Energy

This week, we bring you a duo to break up the guests. We are trying out new lighting in the studio, so please let us know what you think. Today's topic is to stop giving away your energy to distractions that are manufactured to drain us. There are legitimate problems in this world that we can/should fix; then there are "issues" that people are outraged by because society says they should be. In almost all of the latter cases, the initial story is not what it seems. Whatever you focus your energy on, expands and manifests. So, start focusing on bettering yourself so society can improve.

  • 250. Wrestling, Bars, and Braces with Dom DiGena

This week we are joined by Joe's friend, Dom, who shares his story about doing what it takes to be great. Dom started wrestling at four years old and took his passion to the collegiate level where he wrestled for Arizona State University (ASU). Why ASU? Well, you will have to watch, but let's just say some nice scenery. Dom's journey in wrestling was all but easy. At a young age, Dom learned about sacrifice through constant weight cutting, which saw him practically starve himself leading up to his matches. In the end, it all paid off. We also touch on some fun stories of his time at ASU and the so-called "shenanigans" that took place, along with stories of being a bartender at a popular local bar. Today, Dom is applying what he learned as a collegiate athlete, which is why he is successful. Enjoy!

  • 249. From NFL to MMA- Journey to Greatness with Kevin Wilkins

This week we had a great conversation with Kevin Wilkins. Kevin is a father, son, and husband. At a young age, Kevin was separated from his biological family for personal reasons and joined the Wilkins' family. At an early age, Kevin was introduced to competition, which would lead to a lifetime of success. Kevin wrestled and played football from his adolescent years, all the way up until his senior year of high school. Kevin would go on to play football for Rutgers University as well as having a stint in the NFL with the Eagles, Giants, and Lions. After football, Kevin decided to focus his attention on professional MMA fighting with aspirations to make it to the UFC. Kevin currently holds a professional record of 2-0 and a total record of 10-0 (amateur included). The best part of the conversation was Kevin's genuine, confident, and humble character. Be sure to follow Kevin on Instagram to support (handle below). Enjoy!

  • 247. Leading by Example with Phil McEntee

Long time guest, friend, and "good" gentleman, Phil McEntee, joins us for another episode! In each episode, Phil shares great philosophical ideologies and how they apply to his life experiences and today is no different. First, we took care of an important matter by congratulating Timmy on becoming a Black Belt in BJJ! Years of discipline, dedication, and hard work have paid off. Congrats brother! We are able to connect the discipline and leadership in BJJ to Phil's upbringing as a role model in taking care of his younger siblings while growing up. There are a lot of nuggets from his experience that can help those that may share the same story. Enjoy!
