With Gov Ball's lineup already out, we take a look at Firefly's lineup to see how it compares. Plus we share our thoughts on Caroline Polachek replacing 100 gecs on Sunday. Also, we share our artist of the week.
Governors Ball is back! After a really horrible year when we were all deprived of live music, New York's flagship festival is returning in late September at a new venue and with a decidedly different booking philosophy than what we saw in 2020. In this episode, the team breaks down the new slate of artists, the move to Citi Field, and the return to an all-ages admission policy.
The year 2020 will be remembered for many things, but for music festival fans, it's a time when all our favorite events went silent. Well, 2021 is a whole new trip around the sun, and with vaccines rolling out, fall festival announcements have started rolling in. In this episode, the We're Doing Great crew looks at the landscape for this year and talks about what it all might mean for Governors Ball's planned September return.
Guess who's back? GovBall's back. Or, at least, they're giving it a shot. In the midst of a fairly dark winter, Founders Entertainment has announced that they're planning to throw a festival in New York City in late September. How will it shake out? Will it happen at all? Who's going to play? What can we expect? The We're Doing Great crew emerges from our winter hibernation to break it all down.
Well, friends, the expected has come to pass: Governors Ball 2020 has been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We knew it was coming, but it still hurts. We're wrapping up our season with a discussion of the situation, and some thoughts on how we're all going to get through this. Much love to all, and be safe.
Well, folks, the festival season is getting crushed by COVID-19, along with just about every other walk of life. We couldn't not talk about it - Coachella's cancelation, who might be next, and what it means for GovBall (it ain't looking good). But it's not all darkness - we also dive a bit into Princess Nokia's newest material.
This week, we take a break from celebrating to get a little serious, as the threat of COVID-19 arrives on American shores and starts affecting the live music industry. Is GovBall at risk? We explore the possibilities. Plus, we profile Friday artist Nasty Cherry and talk more festival pro tips.
Will black midi's weirdo art-rock inspire a Sunday afternoon crowd? What's the most important piece of clothing for a fest day? Do European festivals like Mad Cool and Roskilde have us feeling fest FOMO? All these questions and more, answered on this week's episode!
We discuss featured artist Summer Walker's R&B stylings, get into the lineups for a few festivals, including Pitchfork's big indie shindig, and pour one out for another rapper gone too soon, Pop Smoke. Plus, known conflicts, pro tips, and more!
Friday headliner Tame Impala's new record has arrived, and we're taking a look at it and what it might mean for their headlining set at GovBall 2020! But first, we dive into this past week's reddit AMA and talk a few more festivals, including a big surprise out of Beale Street!
