The "how" of the divine conception and virgin birth is a holy mystery, as it should be. However, just as an author can write himself or herself into a story, God is of course capable to write Himself into His own story, and He has in the person of Jesus Christ. If you have seen Jesus, you have seen the Father.
But why? Why has God sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world to be incarnated among us, as a prince being sent to live the life of a pauper and die a criminal's death on a cross?
Listen to find out the answer as we explore the third line of the Apostles' Creed: he was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary.
What does it mean that Jesus was "conceived by the Holy Spirit"? Why is it so important to uphold this core doctrine of the Christian Church?
Listen as our senior pastor Jeff Patterson leads us through the third line of the Apostles' Creed
Our culture has gotten very good at putting a spotlight on the sin's of others as a way to deflect from our own sin. We all bear the stain of sin on our lives, and healing begins when we own up to that and seek out God's way of removing the stain and cleansing us completely.
Associate pastor Rev. Dr Ken Lyon leads us through a powerful message about stains, cleansing and salvation. Listen and share with friends and family!
What moves people, churches and even organizations from good to great? Why do some "succeed" and others don't? What x-factor or tipping point has facilitated a movement from good to great for them?
In terms of Christian faith, what tipped the scales for the disciples of Jesus? Before Pentecost, they were usually confused, occasionally wrong and yet Jesus never gave up on them. The answer to what tipped the scales for them may lie in Jesus' fascinating question in Luke 8:
Where is your faith?
The Church of Jesus has usually looked like the visiting team that celebrates when they're getting clobbered by 47 points. The Church has always been a peculiar people in the eyes of the world.
The Church celebrates because the Holy Spirit is God and the Holy Spirit is good. We can know the inward presence of the Holy Spirit as children of God. God will give you power from on high and yes, the outside world may look on in bewilderment.
