In the United States, getting clean drinking water is as simple as getting to the nearest faucet. But that's not the case in many places throughout the world. Access to water was limited in the village of Abheypur in India - until the University of Hartford stepped in.

Voters head to the polls tomorrow to determine party nominees for many offices. West Hartford Democrats in the 19th district will also be voting on their nominee for State Representative. Terry Schmitt and Brian Becker are running for the seat being vacated by Rep. Beth Bye. Schmitt currently serves on the West Hartford Board of Education and this is Becker's first time seeking office.

One might assume, based on this, that voters would need more than a well-produced TV ad in order to pull the lever for a candidate, but this time, they don't.

After 34 years the West Hartford Summer Arts Festival is still going strong with the recent performance of "Gypsy" at Hall High School. The SAF gives West Hartford high school and college students the opportunity to perform in popular plays and musicals.

"Storytelling from Around the World" was performed by children from Greater Hartford and graduate students from Saint Joseph College on July 2. The project was choreographed by Kay Gardner with Oscar- and Emmy-award winner Jacques d'Amboise.

I TV West Hartford, which airs on West Hartford Community Television channel five, received special recognition in the category of Entertainment Talk Show from the Alliance of Community Media Hometown Video. Bob Slate, the show's producer, says he's proud that his creation is considered one of the best community media programs in the country.
