Between the creation of the world and the coming of the flood sits a description of two types of people that were on the ancient world and continue to live out their lives today. There were -- and are -- people who live a man-ward life, finding identity in their accomplishments and autonomy; and there were -- and are -- people that are marked by calling on the name of the Lord and walking with Him.

This passage points us to an important response to God our creator. Because God is our creator, we trust His promises — for history and life —and seek to live in a way that worships Him.

In Genesis 4 we find Adam and Eve outside the garden, but still clinging to God in faith as they begin a family. Yet, it does not take long for one to see the ongoing devastating effects of sin in the world as Cain murders his brother Abel out of anger with God and hatred towards his brother. This sermon explores the nature of sin and how God empowers his people to fight sin with his gracious help.

Jesus entered Jerusalem to take an eternal throne, not an earthly one. This was a devastating blow to the expectations of the Jews. Christ teaches us to not only to hail Him as King, but also follow Him as King. We must follow Him into death and then resurrection and glory.

In our world, tragedy strikes somewhere every day, sometimes affecting a few people and sometimes affecting many people. But there is a tragedy which spawned any and every other tragedy that has ever struck or ever will. This tragedy was ’the mother of all tragedies”, and is known as "The Fall. The message shows how what happened in the garden of Eden is the worst tragedy ever to take place, while God’s remedy is the best news ever to be proclaimed.

Genesis gives us the gift of seeing God's original design for marriage and gender. Although we live in a broken world, sin did not change God's design or intent for this important aspect of what it means to be human. This message focuses on aspects of marriage that are critical for us to engage with regardless of if we are married or not. Genesis calls us to trust what God our good creator says about the nature and design of marriage and embrace God's design for our lives and our relationships today.

It is easy in our world today to either view work as a necessary evil or a place to draw our meaning and worth from. We can approach our jobs, homes and areas we volunteer with feelings of frustration, fatigue and joylessness. However we learn something life giving for our work as we look at the story of creation and how God designed humanity in the Garden of Eden. God designed work to be a good thing and has called his people to cultivate wherever he has placed them. To cultivate is to put forth our time, energy and effort to see things we’ve been given stewardship over grow in a God honoring and glorifying way. This sermon explores the goodness of work, the call to cultivate and how we cultivate in our workplace, homes and church.

God created us for intimacy with him and to know and love him as he knows and loves his people. This sermon explores Genesis 2 and how God formed Adam and set up the Garden of Eden to communicate who he is and humanity’s need to know him.
