On a Cold and rainy Saturday after the inauguration of Donald Trump, we sent seven reporters all over West Texas (Marfa, Alpine, Fort Davis, Balmorhea, Presidio, Midland, Odessa, Fort Stockton, and Coyanosa) to hear from the listeners of this station to hear the wide range of how everyone was feeling about our new president.

The voices and opinions we gathered were as diverse as the people who call west Texas home, and we're excited to share them with you.

Today on West Texas Talk, Zoe Kurland sits down with artist Naomi Safran-Hon to discuss this statement and the importance of art in a changing world. Born in Israel, Safran-Hon revisits her hometown of Haifa to photograph places long since abandoned and uses lace and cement to rework the images, examining complicated notions of home, dilapidation, and destruction.  Her exhibit at Marfa Contemporary opens on Friday, January 20th. Sing the ruling of Roe v. Wade in 1973, anti-abortion activists across the U.S., especially in the south, have won legal, cultural and political battles that have made it more difficult for women to gain access to abortions and have increased the stigma surrounding them. There is one abortion clinic left in the state of Mississippi and it is fighting to stay open. Maisie Crow, with her film, Jackson, takes us to that clinic for an intimate look at the issues.
